    Loveland, Ohio – The streets of Loveland were filled with patriotism as the community gathered around to enjoy one phenomenal 2021 Independence Day Celebration in the heart of Downtown!

    Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Loveland’s 4th of July celebration was canceled so many Americans across Cincinnati missed out on celebrating America’s birthday Loveland-style. In preparation for this year’s celebration, many didn’t know what to expect, but as the 4th of July drew nearer one thing became clear; friends, families, and community members wanted to bring in Independence Day together with a bang. That couldn’t have been more true as the Loveland 2021 4th of July celebration kicked off at Noon and the sea of red, white, and blue filled Downtown Historic Loveland.

    The beautiful sunny day was filled with activities, local vendor booths, food trucks, live music, and rides for the kids. At 4 PM Nisbet Park hosted the “Kids Zone,” which included exotic animals on display, potato sack races, martial arts, face painting, jugglers on stilts, the Loveland Robotics Team, pirates, inflatables, festival rides, and much more!

    There was of course no shortage of food and drinks as the local food trucks rolled into Downtown Loveland at 4 PM as well. Crowds of festive Americans had the choice of lining up to receive ice cream from the Loveland Dairy Whip, 4th of July grill out cuisine from The Right Stuff Grill, delicious Southeast Asian-style food from the Sea Cuisine Food Truck, unique burgers and sandwiches from Stellar Street Eats, on-the-spot homemade lemonade at The Lemonade Stand, or a mouth-watering smoothie from The Smoothie King Food Truck.

    As civilians ventured down the Loveland Bike Trail live patriotic music filled the air, creating an unbelievable atmosphere throughout Downtown Loveland. Russel Kuzuhara performed at Jackson Street Market as adults enjoyed nice cold beverages from the beer booth. Later the Bluewater Kings Band took the stage at the Nisbet Park Amphitheater as friends and families danced to the high-energy 6 piece ensemble.

    The featured event of the night was the Loveland Parade, which brought in hundreds of Americans from all over the Cincinnati area just to catch a glimpse of patriotism in its best form! As local organizations, businesses, churches, Disney Princesses, circus performers, the LPD, the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department, and city officials made their way down West Loveland Avenue in their decked-out Americana vehicles kids lined the streets with their families for candy, popsicles, and even toothbrushes tossed out by those in the parade. The atmosphere couldn’t have been more perfect for those that attended and of course, the community felt more united than ever before!

    I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to commentate the entire parade while Loveland Magazine’s Editor, David Miller, streamed all of the action on Facebook Live for those who wanted to enjoy the Loveland Parade from their homes or vacation spots.

    As the sunset on Downtown Loveland, people began to claim their front row seats to the Annual Loveland Firework Show that started promptly at 10 PM. The firework show didn’t disappoint as friends and families camped out on blankets and lawn chairs while staring into the beautifully lit sky! Loveland’s Independence Day celebration ended with a firework grand finale that left those who were watching with an overwhelming feeling of love for America and the Americans surrounding them.

    The Loveland Dairy Whip is Closing for the Season on Sunday!

    Loveland, Ohio – The saddest day of the year has finally come for the city of Loveland, and if you’re not a Loveland resident you maybe asking yourself when is this day coming and why is it so sad?! On Sunday, September 27th the legendary sweetest place in town, Loveland Dairy Whip, will be closing its doors for the season.

    “We will be opening February 26th, 2021,” owner Rick Morgan informed the community.

    The family-owned soft serve ice cream shop, located at 611 W Loveland Ave, has been open since 1955 and has become quite the tradition for many families around town. The Loveland Dairy Whip has a variety of options on its menu ranging from Dairymen’s vanilla, chocolate, or twist cones to specialty ice cream creations like The Chocolate Mountain and the Reese Tulip. Of course there are also options for the kiddos like the Clown Sundae and the Gummy Monster!

    The friendly Loveland Dairy Whip owners and staff ask that you stop by during their final week of the Summer to celebrate another successful season! The ice cream shop has plenty of seating in their shaded picnic area so that you and your family can enjoy your favorite ice cream treat! The Loveland Dairy Whip’s hours this week will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    Local Quilt Business Selected to be Featured in National Publication!

    Loveland, Ohio – Over the past couple of years, the Historic District of Loveland has really come along and so has its businesses! Loveland businesses’ both seasoned and new have been racking up the accolades locally and nationally. Recently a business right out of the West Loveland Historic District called, The Quilter’s Studio of Loveland & QSL Workshop, was selected to be featured in one of the most well-known publications, Better Homes and Garden’s Quilt Sampler Magazine.

    “I truly was shocked! It was my first attempt at getting in the magazine and I didn’t expect to get in,” Karen Breed, the owner of The Quilter’s Studio of Loveland & QSL Workshop, explained, “My shop is for very creative people who like to create their own selection as opposed to walking in a shop and having a stack of kits you can grab that is a replication of something someone else has made!” Breed says at her quilt shop customers see something they like and are able to pick their own spin, which is what really sets her shop apart from other quilt shops.

    Quilt Sampler Magazine is a prestigious quilt publication that features the top quilt shops in North America. Although it is only published twice a year, the magazine itself has been running strong since 1995. Yearly, the magazine conducts a competition in which quilt shop owners from across the United States are able to apply to be featured as one of the top 10 quilt shops in North America. Over 3,000 quilt shops were eligible to apply for a multipage profile in Quilt Sampler. Quilt shop owners all across the United States submitted a detailed application including the quilt shop’s history, business promotions, charitable work, teaching schedules, and design philosophies. Quilt experts, including those from the American Patchwork and Quilting staff, reviewed the applications and then selected the 10 best quilt shops accordingly.

    This year The Quilter’s Studio of Loveland & QSL Workshop will appear in the Quilt Sampler as one of the best quilt shops in North America! The issue will be released on May 1st. The 10-page spread will also feature an original quilt design from the employees of The Quilter’s Studio of Loveland and QSL Workshop along with instructions on how the quilt was made. Breed couldn’t be more pleased with the honor from Quilt Sampler as she has had a passion for the art of quilting since 1990!

    “I had to create an original design that they had to approve. Then send the finished quilt to them so they could photograph it,” Breed said. “It will be part of the photo spread. It’s pretty awesome that the issue comes out this May as it will be my 10-year anniversary.”

    Breed was formerly in two separate buildings at the corner of Wall Street and West Loveland Avenue that she lovingly renovated in 2010. When she outgrew the space she purchased and renovated the building and grounds of her current location at the corner of West Loveland Avenue and Loveland Madeira Road in 2016.

    “Quilt Sampler already did the photoshoot in November. I found out last July and spent all of those months preparing for the photoshoot, but wasn’t allowed to tell anyone that my shop was selected,” Breed said.

    Inside The Quilter’s Studio of Loveland & QSL Workshop

    The art of quilting was brought to America by the original colonists in the nineteenth-century. As settlers moved west so did quilting. When quilting finally entered into the Great Plains it took off from there! Although Americans discovered quilting hundreds of years ago according to the Better Homes and Garden’s Quilt Sampler’s press release quilting is bigger than ever!

    “The art of quilting has changed dramatically since the days of quilting bees in church basements, and quilting is experiencing a major renaissance. A Quilting Consumer Insights study completed by American Patchwork & Quilting magazine reports that the U.S. quilting market is composed of 4.2 million avid quilters. Further research shows that readers of American Patchwork & Quilting spend an average of $1,165 per year on quilting supplies and complete nearly 11 projects per year.” – Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler
