Police-Unity-Tour-031216Dear Loveland Magazine Readers,

We are hosting our fourth Power Ryde fundraiser of the year on Saturday, March 12, at noon  for the Police Unity Tour.

If the class fills, we will add an additional class(es).  SIGN UP.

Power Ryders Detective John Pavia, Brett Pavia (John’s son) and Officer Scott Marshall are participating in the Police Unity Tour which is a 250 mile bike ride May 10 – May 12 dedicated to fallen officers.  John and Scott will ride from Richmond, VA to Washington DC and Brett will work in the mechanics truck.  Only police officers and close family members of fallen officers are allowed to ride.  This is John’s fourth year and Brett’s second year.  This year all three are riding for Sonny Kim, Cincinnati Police Department who lost his life in the line of duty on June 19, 2015.

There will be approximately 2,000 bikers beginning in different cities, but all ending in Washington DC at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (NLEOM) where they will all ride in together on May 12 at 2:30 pm.  The Police Unity Tour motto is “We ride for those who died” and the ride ensures the life and sacrifice of every officer who lost their life in the line of duty is never forgotten.

The Police Unity Tour was founded in 1997 with the hope of bringing public awareness to all law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty and to honor their service and sacrifices.  The Police Unity Tour also raises funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. The NLEOM is a tribute to all federal, state, and local law enforcement officers.  Engraved on the marble walls are the names of over 19,000 officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty.  The NLEOM receives no government or taxpayer revenue, but relies on the contributions of organizations and interested citizens.  Members spend the year raising awareness in their communities for police officers that have died in the line of duty.

As members of the Tour, John, Scott and Brett are required to raise a minimum of $1,750.00 each and bicycle/work the 250 miles.  All donations to the Police Unity Tour ultimately go to the NLEOM.
