Cake, ice cream and friendship
Loveland, Ohio – They are called the Partners Club, and at Loveland High School (LHS), once a month you might catch them in party mode. Thursday, Feb. 25, they transformed the LHS Cafeteria into a cake walk competition – music blasting, costumes on and ice cream in abundance to complement the table full of cake.
“This is an opportunity for all of our students to socialize and interact with each other,” said LHS Teacher Molly Swaine, who sponsors the Partners Club. “The Partners Club was established to provide these social opportunities for students with special needs and their peers.”
At the Thursday afternoon cake walk – the smiles were in abundance, and clear connections were made.
“I participate in Partners Club because I enjoy socializing with students who have a disability,” said LHS Student Cooper Scanlon. “I have worked with Mrs. Swaine’s class since second grade and love getting to know the kids. I love seeing them get excited and happy!”
“The Partners Club is a great and fun experience for all involved and a great way for our students to meet new friends,” said Swaine. “It is amazing to see all of the smiles and friendships develop through after-school, social activities.”
