Loveland, Ohio – Loveland Elementary School (LES) third-grade students went back to the 1800’s to learn Thursday, Oct. 29, when the class traveled to Okeana to visit the Governor Bebb Nature Preserve. Students toured a small village and were able to see how characteristics of the past have helped to shape communities today. They also saw how communities have changed from the past to the present day.
“The students were thrilled to be able to tour the village and experience what it was like to live in the 1800’s,” said LES Teacher Summer Mangano. “Making candles was one of the many activities that the students got to enjoy. This is another great field trip for our third grade students that we hope to continue each year!”
“We are so fortunate to have a supportive PTA, and that group funded this learning experience,” said LES Principal Jennifer Forren. “This is a perfect real-world educational complement to the history lessons our students study in the classroom, and we sincerely thank the LEPTA for making field trips like this possible for our students.”
