“It was a dream come true”
From Dayton Flyers Athletics
The Dayton Flyers announced today that the Kirchdorf Wildcats, a German football team, have signed Safety Zach Elias to play for the Wildcats next year in the German Football League 2. Elias is a former Loveland High School Tiger.
Elias plans to leave for Germany in May after he graduates.
This fall Elias was voted in as First Team All Pioneer Football League. He is a finance major and finished his Flyer career with 138 tackles and 7 interceptions in 38 total games. This season Elias recovered 2 fumbles, forced 1 fumble, and was voted the Pioneer Football League Player of the Week during October.
Joining Elias in Kirchdorf is graduating Defensive End, senior Pat Dowd.
“It was a dream come true for us to get signed by the same team,” said Elias.
Both players are very excited to play for Kirchdorf, especially due to the Wildcats’ recent success.
Zach Elias put things in perspective by saying, “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
