Grand Opening Family Fun Festival
Honest-1 Auto Care is in the Shoppes of Loveland plaza near the Loveland Starbucks at 10645 Loveland Madeira Rd.
Loveland, Ohio – Carl and Pat Heaton opened Honest-1 Auto Care Loveland in May. Their “Grand Opening” will be on October 11.
Honest-1 is a full-service automotive repair facility that does everything from oil changes to engine replacement.
Pat Heaton said, “Honest-1 is a hybrid between the small neighborhood mechanic who you knew well and trusted combined with the technical experience of a large dealer.” Pat is proud of Honest’s friendly environment, waiting area, and customer service. Honest-1 is planning their Grand Opening for Sunday, October 11 from 11 AM until 4 PM.
“We are using our large Shoppes of Loveland plaza parking lot and creating a festival environment with a bouncy house, a large petting zoo, twisted balloons, games, food trucks, craft booths and live entertainment,” said Pat. Their plaza neighbors, April Florist, Title Boxing (Demo), and Starbucks will also be involved.
Everyone will enjoy the large photo booth to take pictures of couples & groups.
The police and fire chiefs have volunteered to have vehicles available.

“This will be a great way to get in front of the Loveland community,” said Pat. “If you are interested in participating please let us know.

LES third-grade students learn about culture in Afghanistan through a Skype session
Teachers team up and incorporate technology to go global with a lesson on culture
Loveland, Ohio – It was an International lesson in the classroom Friday, Sept. 18, at Loveland Elementary School (LES) when third-grade students connected with another country in real time.
Melissa Prenger and Kelly McDonald’s classes learned about Afghanistan from a class parent and a Skype chat with the parent’s friend. They spoke about the culture of Afghanistan and the way of life there.
“There has been an expansion in the use of technology across the district as some 1,200 devices have landed in Loveland classrooms from the Loveland Early Childhood Center up through Loveland High School,” said David Knapp, district director of instructional technology. “Our classroom teachers have unprecedented district access to technology to enhance instruction, and we are thrilled to see real-life examples such as this showing how our teachers are broadening the student experience in a global way.”
Wallaby Encounter – 11:30am – 1:30pm
Join us in a dynamic presentation with one of Australia’s sweetest animals, the wallaby. We will have one adult and one baby wallaby for you to touch and learn about. We will discuss why wallabies carry their babies in pouches, the difference between a wallaby and a kangaroo, wallaby diet & habitat, and so much more.
This is an intimate encounter that you and your family will never forget.
Hike & Scavenger Hunt (three different times)
9:30am & 11:00am & 2:00pm
This hike is sure to please whether you seek reptiles, amphibians, birds, or bugs. Bring binoculars and your enthusiasm as we hike over a pond, though woods, and by an early succession meadow.
Paint your own T-Shirt – 9:30 am – 2:30pm
Use natural objects such as leaves, twigs, flowers, and feathers to create a unique design on a plain t-shirt or towel. Participants supply light colored shirt. Paint is non-toxic and permanent after drying.
Marshmallow Roast – 11am – 3pm
Please sit by our crackling campfire and enjoy some marshmallows, whether you like them lightly toasted or blackened. Regular and vegan marshmallows provided.
Pond Exploration – noon – 3pm
Come discover what life lurks beneath the surface of a pond. See turtles, frogs, and salamanders, as well as critters that are too small to be seen with the naked eye.
‘Bugs and Bird’ Story Time – 10:00 am
Bring your toddler or preschooler to hear books and learn about butterflies, moths, birds and ladybugs. Stay and make a craft to take home.
‘Tales from the Outback’ Story Time – 1:30 pm
Bring your toddler or preschooler to hear books and learn about Australia’s native animals such as the wallaby, kangaroo, platypus, and koala. Stay and make a craft to take home.
Touch Station & Native Animal Encounter – 9am – 3pm
Students and alumni of CMH School will have a variety of native Ohio species to touch, hold, and learn about. Tadpoles, toads, frogs, various insects and reptiles will be just some of the creatures that you can interact with and learn about.
E-waste recycling program with Planet Green Recycling – all day.
This recycling initiative will be ongoing throughout the year and is an easy way to raise funds through “reuse and recycle.” Program details to follow, but please start saving ink jet cartridges, old cell phones and small electronics/gadgets like cameras, GPS devices, calculators, game consoles, iPods, etc.
We are a group of Marine Capt. Seth Mitchell’s high school classmates, who miss our friend and want to keep his memory alive. We represent the many people who Seth made an impression on with his sense of humor, kind heart, and loyal friendship. As we organize this 5k Race and the scholarship memorial fund, we are motivated by one enduring inspiration: to live each day a little more honorably, kindly, and humbly… just like Seth.

Seth Mitchell was a Marine Captain, former football player at Loveland High School, and the Class President when he graduated in 1997. Mitchell was the first LHS graduate to die while fighting in the Middle East wars when he was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2009.
