    NKU Chamber Choir in concert at Loveland Presbyterian Church April 9

    The Northern Kentucky University Chamber Choir will be in concert on Thursday April 9 at 7:30 PM at the Loveland Presbyterian Church.

    The Choir was awarded a Gold Medal in the Championship Mixed Choir Division of the World Choir Games in Cincinnati in 2012 and also won the Silver medal in the Grand Prix of Choirs in Varna, Bulgaria in 2012. The choir is a frequent performer at music conventions such as the American Choral Director’s Association and the National Association for Music Education.

    The concert is FREE – a free will donation will be taken.

    The church is located at 360 Robin, Loveland, OH; 513/683-2525 (email-lovelandpresbyterian@gmail.com).

    The former Patio restaurant next to Kroger at 700 Loveland-Madeira Road was demolished this week. The owner, David Realty Group, will construct a 6,350 sq ft mixed use building with a 400 sq ft patio and a drive-thru. This was also a former Gold Star Chili.

    The only announced tenant is Tender Towne selling chicken tenders, chicken wraps, chicken salad sandwiches, coleslaw, garlic toast, and fries. It is anticipated most customers will use a drive-thru, however there will be 5-6 outdoor tables. The site will have 1,000 more sq ft of landscaping than the Patio Sports Bar, however the existing trees may be replaced. Another possible tennant will be frozen yogurt.

    There is one other Tender Towne in the greater Cincinnati area, at 603 Ohio Pike (Beechmont Ave.) near the I-275 interchange. Jett Pizza is another prospective tenant according to the applicants who received plan approval from the planning commission last August.

     A night of nothing more than celebrating the passion of area teens and their performing art

    In front of an audience of 350, more than $3,500 cold cash was awarded to honor the performing art of area teens. There was no entry fee for the contestants who sent audition tapes for the opportunity to compete under the bright stage lights, and before highly qualified judges selected for their varied expertise.

    Carson Gritton, a Senior at Kings High School, played classical guitar and was a finalist in the 2015 Hold On Talent Slam on March 7.

    Montessori school holds maple syrup festival and pancake breakfast

Students at CMH School collected about 55 gallons of tree sap which made just over one gallon of syrup. The school recently held a Maple Sugaring Festival where attendees learned about the maple sugaring process.

    Children’s Meeting House Montessori School (CMH School) held a Maple Sugaring Festival where fourth through sixth graders shared the maple sugaring process with their families and the greater Loveland community.  Students taught attendees about the history of maple sugaring and how native peoples used hot stones to boil sap into syrup.  Students demonstrated how maple sap is collected by tapping trees and the process used to make maple syrup.  Most people were surprised to learn that it takes 40 gallons of maple tree sap to get just one delicious gallon of maple syrup.

    The event culminated in a delightful pancake and maple syrup breakfast with over 500 pancakes being served.  Families and friends from the community were able to sample and enjoy different grades of pure maple syrup to find which type they preferred.   

    The students tap trees on the expansive 8 acre campus of CMH School, located just minutes from downtown Loveland.  This year, the students collected about 55 gallons of maple tree sap resulting in a gallon and a quarter of syrup.  “The learning process alone makes the small syrup return worth it.  The children have a deep understanding of the whole process and it’s history,” states teacher John Phenix.  He continues, “I only wish the weather had been colder and brought a bit of snow for maple syrup icees!  Maybe next time.”

    Children’s Meeting House Montessori School serves children three years of age through sixth grade.   • Annual Conservation Plant Sale

    Annual Conservation Plant Sale

    The Clermont Soil & Water Conservation District is now taking orders for its annual Conservation Plant Sale. The district offers many native trees, and this year it’s “going nuts,” offering shagbark hickories and all-about-kids-1213hardy pecans for the first time. Both trees produce edible nuts for wildlife and people. The district is also selling native bushes and perennials to enhance landscapes, as well as rain barrels to collect water for gardens.

    Most of the tree and shrub seedlings are between 12 inches and 3 feet tall. They will be bare-rooted with the roots dipped in a root preservative and wrapped to keep them from drying out. Most packets will be in a bag about the size of a grocery bag and can easily be placed in your car for pickup.

    An order form can be obtained at www.clermontswcd.org, or by calling 513-732-7075 ext. 2.  Orders need to be placed by April 4. Plants must be picked up from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Clermont County Fairgrounds in Owensville.

    I love reading your online news of Loveland! Thank you for providing this website to us and helping us stay involved with all that goes on in our community.

    I took this picture last night and just have to share. It was a quick photo that I snapped with my phone, but it captured such an incredible moment. My daughter Aimee has always been attached to her great-grandmother, and we’ve always joked that Aimee was her “favorite”. She was the first to say that Aimee has a “million dollar smile”…and as we near the end of her life, she still brings her joy with that smile as you can see by her own smile through the mask.

    Not sure what I thought you would do with it since other than we all live in Loveland, it doesn’t really have anything to do with your website, but I felt like I wanted to share.
