Loveland, Ohio – The #25 seed Loveland Tigers Men’s Basketball Team begins their journey into the State tournament tonight at 6 PM. The game is at Fairfield High School. Loveland had a first-round bye and will face #5 seed Princeton who defeated #32 seed Edgewood 61-24 to advance into the second round.
The Tigers finished the ECC regular season in 6th place with a 7-9, 10-12 record. Brayden Frietch (11.5 season average), Andrew Breese (10.7 season average), and Jack Sauer (10 season average ) are the top Tiger scorers.
Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland High School Men’s Bowling team went wire to wire this season and won the 1st ever ECC Bowling Tournament on Saturday. Based on the regular season and tourney play, Loveland walked away with ECC Championships. Loveland finished the regular season 9-0, and 15-2 overall.
Brady Burns averaged 205.7 and Wyatt Glassmeyer 186.3 in the ECC tournament. Burns made the ECC Conference All-Tournament Team with a 617 tournament series.
No 8 seed Loveland advanced in the State tournament Wednesday night in a game played at Lakota East High School by defeating #16 seed Oak Hills. Josie Early led all scorers in the 48-34 contest with 16 points. She was 7 for 9 from the charity stripe. Charity is a misnomer when it comes to Early. She more than earns those trips to the foul line almost never seeing a clear way to the rim as defenses double-team and collapse on her trips inside the circle. The Senior 5’7″ guard pulled down 5 rebounds and stole the ball from the Highlanders 4 times.
Ten of Olivia Rabe’s 14 points were a result of her perfect 10-10 night at the foul line. Rabe is a 6’2″ Senior.
Senior Forward Olivia Rabe also earns each of her trips to the foul line. She was 10 for 10 against Oak hills.
Mason (15-1, 23-1) advanced after beating Anderson 60-27 on February 5 and this past Wednesday evening by beating Northwest 67-8. Mason’s only loss was on December 7th when they traveled to Lakota East, 52-48. The Comets are on a 17-game win streak. Mason won the GMC conference title. Mason’s top scorer is Sophmore guard #20, Madison Parrish who scored 28 in Mason’s 63-62 win at Princeton on January 11. She averages 13.3 points.
The Tigers are 11-5, 17-5 for the season, and finished ECC competition # 3.
The Tiger vs Comets game is on Tuesday, February 21 at 5 PM and will be played at Harrison High School.
Katy Wilber was 4 for 5 from the arc against Seton
Harrison, Ohio – Freshman Katy Wilber with 12 points, led the Loveland Tigers Wednesday afternoon at Harrison High School in the first round of the Southwest 2 – Division I Sectional State Tournament. Wilber was 4 for 5 shooting, all three-pointers. In the 45-37 win, Olivia Raby contributed 11.
A strong 3rd quarter allowed Seton to get back into the game and come to within 2 in the 4th, but strong shooting from the Tiger foul line protected their lead.
The # 8 seeded Tigers next travel to Lakota East High School on February 15 at 6 PM to play # 16 seed Oak Hills.

Loveland, Ohio – The O’Bannon Creek Bridge in Historic Downtown on the Loveland Bike Trail (Little Miami Scenic Trail) will be temporarily closed starting March 6th. Little Miami State Park, the division of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources that oversees the trail said that the bridge is nearing the end of its life expectancy and that they are “proactively replacing it before it becomes unsafe”.

It will open again at the end of March and then close from May to October. There is no designated detour, however, local trail users will know that heading east on West Loveland Avenue and leaving Historic Downtown by heading north on State Route 48, then turning left onto Lyon Avenue will quickly take users to the other side of the closed bridge. From Lyon Avenue take either fork in the road to get back on the trail.
EDITOR’S NOTE: We have received a message from one of our faithful readers who lives on Maple avenue and she would rather not see people use the street as a detour. She said, “My street isn’t a proper workaround. Maple is a narrow, short dead-end street that doesn’t connect through to the trail, as depicted on the Google map. Our little neighborhood has several families with young children and would appreciate not having all the trail traffic directed our way. If trail users just stay on Lyon (which has just one house and no kids), they will quickly come to its intersection.”

Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland, Ohio non-profit “Ben Morrison Fund” and Tori Morrison have announced the date of the 2023 2nd Annual Ben’s Birthday Bash will be February 19th, 2023.
The Ben Morrison Fund was recently honored by the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance as their “Hometown Hero”.
The event will take place at the Fowling Warehouse and will feature tournament-style fowling, BBQ provided by JD’s Meat Shack, and the auctioning of the fan-favorite “Liquor Trove.”
All proceeds will go directly to helping young people struggling with mental health crises, normalizing conversations about mental health, and building hope. Every year the Ben Morrison Fund gives scholarships to graduating Loveland seniors and works to erase the stigma of mental health struggles in honor and in the memory of their son Ben.
“We are so grateful for the support we receive to strengthen our efforts to help erase the stigma of mental health struggles and to help those struggling to move forward,” says Tori Morrison, President of the Ben Morrison Fund and Ben’s mom. “This event is particularly special to me as it celebrates Ben’s life as well as his lasting legacy of helping others. It’s a lot of fun, we hope you will come join us!”
Ben’s Birthday Bash will take place February 19th from noon until 3 PM at the Fowling Warehouse in Cincinnati. $20 Tickets can be purchased in advance at benmorrisonfund.org or at the door. Participation in the tournament is $5. Lunch will be provided.

Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Women (10-3, 14-4) climbed into second place in the ECC after their Senior Night victory over Anderson Monday, 47-34.
Behind the Tigers is Kings (10-3, 13-5). The Tigers beat Kings 46-45 in overtime on December 12 and the rivalry rekindles this Thursday when the Knights come to Loveland for a showdown at 7:30 PM. (CORRECTION: The game against Kings Thursday, January 26 is at Kings High School.)
Loveland is on a 7-game win streak. They beat Lebanon on the road 38-33 last Thursday and defeated Indian Hills in the Braves’ gym 46-30 last Wednesday.

Loveland’s Freshman Katy Wilber drained five threes in the first half at Indian Hill and finished with two more in the second to lead all scorers with 21. Olivia Raby scored 11.
Josie Early led all scorers in her Senior Night performance with 15, she pulled down 6 rebounds and collected 5 steals.
The Tigers have a non-conference home game at 2 PM this Saturday against Springboro and travel to West Clermont on Monday, January 30. Undefeated West Clermont (13-19, 19-0) stands in the Tiger’s way of winning the conference. The Wolves are rated the #4 team in Ohio. The Tigers came within 6 of beating West Clermont on December 15. It was one of West Clermont’s closest games.
