South China Sea – Ensign Thomas Wassel, from Loveland, Ohio, investigates surface contacts while standing deck watch on the bridge of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Hopper (DDG 70). Hopper is conducting a routine patrol in the 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
Wassel is a 2012 graduate of Loveland High School.
