Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District (District) will be selling trees to Hamilton County residents at $15 each, as part of the regional efforts of The Taking Root Campaign and Releaf Cincinnati. The orders can be placed on the District website www.hcswcd.org/tree and at the District office. The sale hopes to inspire county residents to better preserve and maintain existing trees, and to plant more trees.
The District’s program allows residents to purchase trees for pick up at the low price of $15. The trees included in the sale are Red Buckeye, Robin Hill Serviceberry, Shellbark Hickory, Black Gum, White Oak and American Elm. These trees are native and are excellent wildlife and pollinator habitats. The trees come in 3 gallon containers and are 1/2” caliper wide. Orders must reach the District on or before July 17. Residents can then pick up the trees during the District’s 70th Anniversary Celebration on September 26th
Taking Root is a collaborative partnership within the eight counties of the Tri-State region. Its mission is to raise awareness of the current crisis taking place in our tree canopies. Threats include the invasive emerald ash borer as well as other pests and diseases responsible for the loss of millions of this region’s native trees, posing a serious threat to the local ecosystem, and which will impact our quality of life in many ways.
The Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District is a legal subdivision of the State of Ohio responsible for the conservation of the natural resources within Hamilton County, Ohio.
