President Obama on Freddie Grayās Death: “This is Not New, and We Shouldnāt Pretend that Itās New.”
Every American has role to play in tackling this longstanding challenge. We don’t just pay attention to these communities when a CVS burns, and we donāt just pay attention when a young man gets shot or has his spine snapped,” the President said. We should be āpaying attention all the time because we consider those kids our kids, and we think theyāre important and that they shouldnāt be living in poverty and violence.ā
What does President Obama mean when he calls these violent rioters “our kids?” If my kids behaved like wild animals, I would ensure they were corrected and seeking or engaging in productive activities. Unfortunately, 50 years of handouts and billions of taxpayer-funded experiments have been unsuccessful in either correcting or teaching the meaning of a productive lifestyle to those he refers to as “our kids.”
