Traffic reduced to one lane on Monday March 21 and  full road closure April 4 that may extend into May

BRANCH HILL-GUINEA ROAD SAFETY & DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS TO RESUME

Loveland, Ohio – City Manager, Dave Kennedy said on Monday that he received word that Clermont County has added replacing the water line to the scope of the Branch Hill-Guinea Road drainage improvements project.  Kennedy said, “They are going to start doing one lane closures for that work starting in about a week. Then after that, they expect to have a full road closure through the whole month of April to finish the rest of the project. It may extend into May, depending on weather.

On Monday, the Clermont County Engineer’s Office released a schedule of work and related road closure information, which consists of drainage improvements and widening along Branch Hill-Guinea Road between Branch Hill-Loveland and Branch Hill-Miamiville Road.

Clermont County Engineer Pat Manger said, “The project will significantly improve safety and travel through this area, particularly during this time of year when rainfall can often lead to problems on the roadway. This improved drainage system will not only move water more efficiently from the roadway, but our improvement work will also eliminate the sharp drops and deep ditches along the roadside.” Manger added that in addition to the drainage improvements, “The installation of paved shoulders will enhance safety for all traffic traveling through this portion of Branch Hill-Guinea Road.”

Kennedy said, “Loveland Police will monitor the traffic and will take necessary steps to reduce backups.”

The Engineer’s Office released the following schedule and project information:

Monday, March 21

WHAT: Work to replace a deteriorated section of water main between Branch Hill-Loveland and Branch Hill-Miamiville Road will begin.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Traffic will be reduced to one lane with the use of flaggers during work hours.

TIMING: Work is expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Monday, April 4, 2016:

WHAT: Following the completion of the above water main replacement work, the roadway improvements will begin, including the reconstruction and paving of Branch Hill-Guinea Road.

Improvements will include 12’ travel lanes and 2’ shoulders, as well as curb and gutter work. (The existing lane width is 10’ with little to no shoulder room and deep roadside ditches.)

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: This work will require a full closure of Branch Hill-Guinea Road between Branch Hill-Loveland Road and Branch Hill-Miamiville Road. A detour will be in place that directs traffic from Branch Hill-Guinea Road to Wards Corner Road to I-275 to Loveland-Madeira Road.

TIMING: This closure is expected to be in place through the end of April.

In addition to the above projects, the Engineer’s Office also announced that there will be two additional pieces of work completed this summe:

  • Resurfacing work will occur on Branch Hill-Guinea Road from the Hamilton County line to Branch Hill-Miamiville Road.
  • On Branch Hill-Loveland Road, resurfacing work will take place from Branch Hill-Guinea to the Loveland city limit.

Short-term closures will be necessary on both roads, and more information will be provided as each project approaches and more details are coordinated with local officials regarding the timing and detour patterns for both.
