Bands and Brews Brings the City of Loveland Together to Celebrate Summer!

    by Cassie Mattia

Loveland, Ohio – It was a beautiful Summer night at the first installment of Bands and Brews in the heart of Downtown Historic Loveland last Saturday!

Families and friends grabbed their lawn chairs, blankets, and their favorite beverage and gathered around the Fountain Greene as they enjoyed live entertainment by the Counting Skeletons and Everything’s Jake.

The fun-filled night kicked off at 6 PM with the Counting Skeletons performing their personal “Dance-able Rock” favorites. As Bone Head, Bon “E” Phish, Phred “Big Bones” McAllister, Skeleton Keys, Jon Bone-m, and Dead Ear got the crowd rocking and rolling kids from the surrounding families joined the Skeletons on stage showing off with their best dance moves!

Check out the video below that I took of the Counting Skeletons rocking out with the community’s kids!

After the Counting Skeletons finished their set, the crowd intermingled with one another as many members of the community had not seen each other since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Next on the entertainment line-up was Everything’s Jake featuring the trio of Ben Duke, Joe Cremeans, and Marianne Puntenney. The community of music lovers grabbed their beverages from the President of the Little Miami Chamber of Alliance, Cee Cee Collins, and intern, Amanda Fox, and once again gathered around for one heck of a show!

Everything’s Jake ended the night with a bang playing everything from R&B to Blues to Pop. As everyone swayed and grooved to the sweet harmonies of Everything’s Jake it was clear that the first rendition of Bands and Brews was a Summer success!

Check out the video below captured by Loveland Magazine Publisher David Miller of Everything’s Jake!

Bands and Brews 2021 will be going on every month throughout the Summer from 6 PM-10 PM on the Fountain Greene in Downtown Historic Loveland. The next installment will be on July 3rd and will feature Model Behavior.

Mason, Ohio – Wednesday, June 2nd, the Women’s Tigers Lacrosse team drove to Mason for the semi-finals in the state tournament. They faced the Dublin Coffman “Rocks” who beat Upper Arlington in a surprising upset 11-9 to make the Final-4.

The game began and finished, very close. It was 1-1, then 2-1 Tigers, then 4-2 Rocks. The sidelines were on edge with both teams fighting for the win. In the final seconds of the first half, Carly Wilhoite (senior) scored another goal bringing the Tigers only one point behind the Rocks.

Unfortunately, after a hard-fought game in rainy and cold weather, the Tigers fell, losing only by 2. The final score was 9-7.

Dublin Coffman went on to the State Championship game Saturday, June 5th, playing New Albany. The Rocks then beat New Albany with a buzzer goal 13-12, making them the D1 state champs.

    Studio launches online shopping

    by Bonnie McNett

Loveland, OhioWhistle Stop Clay Works (WSCW) is pleased to announce an online gallery and store to help at home shoppers find that perfect gift for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10.

The virtual gallery highlights local potters who create unique, hand made pottery. Gift givers will find functional wares like mugs, serving and soup bowls, vases, and chip & dip servers. In addition, there will be one of a kind clay sculptures, whimsical fairy houses, and even gift certificates.

The online store is a unique opportunity for people to shop locally and support small businesses and area artists. You’re sure to find a unique, handcrafted gift for Mom and you might even find something for yourself.

The online shop is also pleased to show the work of two local high school students, Micah Dowdy (polymer earrings) and Alex Eicher (photographs). It is difficult and stressful for artists to approach galleries to show their art, especially for young people. Our studio is proud to showcase their work and help promote their budding interest in the arts,” says Tim O’Grady, studio owner.

The online store can be found at http://www.whistlestopclayworks.com/pages/shop.html.

Once items are bought, the studio will contact buyers via email to arrange curbside pickup at the studio, located at 119 Harrison Avenue, in historic downtown Loveland, Ohio.

All physical distancing guidelines will be followed, face masks will be worn and items will be wiped with a disinfectant prior to pick up.

Additional information can be be obtained by emailing Bonnie McNett at WSCW@whistlestopclayworks.com or by calling the studio at (513) 683-2529.
