    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland High School students; Isaac Astifan, Jay Christian, Carolyn Clore, Benjamin Hicks, Natalie Hutchinson, and Ariela Moore have been named “Commended Students” by the National Merit Scholarship Program and recognized for their outstanding academic promise.


    Established in 1955, National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. NMSC is exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and contributions to NMSC are tax deductible by the donor. NMSC conducts the National

    Merit® Scholarship Program, an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships. Additionally, from 1965 to 2015, NMSC conducted the National Achievement® Scholarship Program, an academic competition for Black American high school students.     NMSC’s goals have remained constant since its inception:

    • to identify and honor academically talented U.S. high school students
    • to stimulate increased support for their education
    • to provide efficient and effective program management for organizations who wish to sponsor college undergraduate scholarships

    Five Loveland Seniors Named National Merit Commended Students

    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland High School has announced seniors Katherine Amburgey, Jackson Crane, Ansley Richards, Calvin Spencer, and Meghan Tibbs have been named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.

    The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability based on their performance on the PSAT taken during the junior year. These Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City School District congratulates Loveland High School (LHS) Seniors Zachary Case, Ashley George, Simon Grome,Daniel Hinrichsen and Samantha James, who have been named Commended Students in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students are recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

    Approximately 34,000 test takers in the United States qualified as Commended Students by placing among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who took the PSAT/NMSQT in October 2018.

    “We are thrilled to have five Commended Students at Loveland High School this year,” said LHS Principal Peggy Johnson. “This is truly a fantastic accomplishment by each one of them and an amazing stepping stone in their continued pursuit of academic success.”

    National Merit Scholarship Program Names Three LHS Seniors as Commended Students

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City School District has announced that Loveland High School (LHS) Seniors Abigail Docter, Tyler Gray and Sophia Muirwho have been named Commended Students in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

    “The recognition is a testament to the academic ability of these amazing students who stand among the best of the best in the nation,” said LHS Principal Peggy Johnson. “We are thrilled and congratulate them all on this fantastic accomplishment!”

    Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. It was established for the sole purpose of managing the National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 420 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goal of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence. Although Commended Students do not continue on in the scholarship competition, they are recognized for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.
