Join Prince of Peace for Night at Nisbet!

Loveland, Ohio – Downtown Loveland is bringing another event your way hosted by local church Prince of Peace!
On Thursday, July 29th beginning at 6 PM Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (POP) will be hosting “Night at Nisbet,” an event dedicated to supporting those in the community as they pursue their dreams and reach for their goals. The fun-filled night will take place at Nisbet Park, a park located right off the Loveland Bike Trail at 126 Karl Brown Way. The park also includes an amphitheater in which local bands Watchfrogs and Pocket will be performing. There will also be “Open Mic” slots available for students to show off their talents to the community.
Pastor Lily Brondyke who is a POP intern that is currently preparing for her final year of Seminary at Wartburg, will be spearheading the “Night at Nisbet” along with help from the ELCA Open Doors Grant. Pastor Lily will be graduating in 2022 with a Master of Divinity Degree.
Pastor Lily is hoping to make “Night at Nisbet” one of the best POP events yet as she will be completing her internship with POP on August 8th just in time for her final year of Seminary. Pastor Lily will be preaching at both POP services on August 8th. A coffee and cake celebration will be held after each of Pastor Lily’s services so that the community will have the opportunity to wish her well before she leaves. POP will also be presenting Lily with a gift on her last day. If you would like to contribute to the gift you can make a check out to Prince of Peace with “Intern Gift” noted on the memo line or you can donate online.
If you are interested in celebrating Pastor Lily, the beautiful community we live in, and many local talented musical artists take a trip down to Nisbet Park for a “Night at Nisbet!”

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as we see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 24-25
This past year forced many of us to think about relationships and connections. How do we connect with our communities? How do we form relationships? The COVID-19 pandemic forced businesses, schools, churches, families, and friends to get creative about connection. Eventually, vaccines made it possible for the pandemic to look a little different. Masks and social distancing became optional when vaccinated. Gatherings became safer. But there’s no turning back to an old kind of normal.
At Prince of Peace, creativity became a driving force for our mission of living and loving like Jesus in the world.
We are called to think creatively about how we live and love like Jesus. We are called to consider how we build community and lift up one another. We are called to love and support each other as we pursue our dreams.
Night at Nisbet is about all of this — getting out and loving the communities in which we live. Lifting each other up and celebrating what God is doing in each of our lives. Come together for a night of music, community, and celebration.
Nisbet Park is iconic to downtown Loveland. Situated on the bike path, within walking distance to great local food, drink, and sno-cones, a night at this park guarantees a good time. Some folks walk or run or bike on by, on their way to another spot. Some use the picnic tables for time with family and friends. There’s a playground, a pavilion, bathrooms—basically everything you could need. It’s a great place to gather people.
If you like good music, supporting local musicians, and having a good time with good people, it’s coming here to Loveland. If you are looking for something fun to do with family or friends or are excited about a different, creative ministry in an ever-changing world, pay attention to this event. Night at Nisbet is dedicated to community and local music.
Mark July 29th at 6:00 PM on your calendar because you won’t want to miss this night! Local bands, ‘Watchfrog’ and ‘Pocket’ will be performing. And you’ll probably see some familiar faces on the stage. Open mic slots feature student talent right from our own area!

Tonight’s Loveland High School Jazz concert moved indoors

Loveland, Ohio – Tonight’s scheduled jazz concert will be in the high school auditorium instead of downtown Loveland, due to the weather.
The Loveland High School Jazz Lab Band and Jazz Orchestra were scheduled to perform at the Narrow Path Brewing Company in Historic Downtown Loveland starting at 7 PM tonight.
Only parents of the students will be permitted to attend tonight in the LHS gym, however the general public and fans of jazz will be able to watch the concert in a livestream.

On Tuesday, May 4th, the Loveland High School Concert and Symphonic bands, along with the Wind Ensemble will be performing in the Nisbet Park Amphitheater starting at 6 PM.
The Jazz bands will be playing a wide variety of tunes, such as the theme from “Family Guy” and a Stevie Wonder Medley. You all can enjoy Narrow Path’s wide variety of beers while listening to fun music and supporting the Loveland music program.
The High School’s concert bands have a fun variety of tunes as well, including the one and only theme song from “Star Wars”. They will have interim superintendent Bradley Neavin guest conduct a piece as well.
The outdoor, COVID-19 friendly event is a great way for all of you to support the wonderful music program in Loveland, and see what they do.
The music program in the Loveland City Schools wants to bring the music to the public instead of bringing the public to the music.
So, if you want to have a fun time listening to some fantastic music, support us on April 29th (Livestream) and May 4th in Nesbit Park!

Apply for Loveland Stage Company Creative Arts Scholarship

Loveland, Ohio – Each year the Loveland Stage Company recognizes a graduating high school student with its Creative Arts Scholarship.
The Loveland Stage Company is offering a scholarship again this year in the amount of $1000. In order to qualify for the scholarship, the graduating student must reside in the Loveland City School District, attend Loveland High School, or be an offspring of a Loveland Stage Company member. This scholarship is intended to be used toward college or university tuition, room and board, or books.
The Loveland Stage Company wishes to encourage and support young local talent. Therefore, prospective applicants must be planning to further their education in the Creative Arts. Qualifying areas of study include, but are not limited to: art, music, theater, photography, film, dance, and majors that support these studies. Students are asked to submit examples of their talent in their chosen field and a high school transcript demonstrating the ability to succeed academically as part of the application process.
Applications are available on the Loveland Stage Company website and are due no later than Sunday March 14.

Artists Shine at the Pottery Affaire on September 12

Whistle Stop Clay Works (WSCW) is pleased to announce the third annual Pottery Affaire happening Saturday, September 12 from 11am. until 4pm. The show highlights local artists who will be offering hand made pottery, paintings, note cards, photographs, felted items, and much more.
This show is a wonderful opportunity to support local artists who have been impacted by the pandemic and to buy unique, hand crafted work. There will also be demonstrations on the potter’s wheel and pottery studio tours.
“It’s an amazing show. There are about two dozen artists showing their work. The Pottery Affaire offers tremendous variety and selection, so you’re sure to find something that just right for you or someone on your holiday list,” states Bonnie McNett, show coordinator and instructor at WSCW.
The show is happening by the beautiful O’Bannon Creek at 119 Harrison Avenue, in historic Loveland, Ohio. “The setting is just perfect with lots of expansive shade trees and the beautiful O’Bannon Creek ambling by,” continues McNett.
The outdoor show will require vendors and shoppers to wear face masks and observe social distancing guidelines.
The Pottery Affaire is being held at 119 Harrison Avenue just north of downtown Loveland on Saturday, September 12th from 11am. till 4pm.

Loveland, Ohio – Students at Loveland High School (LHS) have received 14 Cappies nominations for their November 2019 production of My Fair Lady.
The Cappies Critics and Awards Program recognizes Greater Cincinnati’s young writers, performers, and technical crews. High school theatre and journalism students in the Cappies program are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, and write and publish reviews. At the end of each school year, they vote on awards for their fellow students in a list of categories, including outstanding productions, group, and individual performances, as well as achievements in various technical categoriesThe gala is usually held at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati but will be held virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The awards gala will be held “virtually” this year on Thursday, May 28.

Excerpts from Top Reviews of the Loveland High School production of My Fair Lady
Stunning performances included both Anna Colletto and Aiden Hubbard as the leads, as well as William Gibbs-Heard and Claire Yoder playing the down-to-earth Colonel Pickering and the motherly Mrs. Pearce, respectively. Particularly, Colletto showed exceptional vocal talents through her singing voice and her consistent Cockney accent that lasted through the majority of the first act. – Joshua Inman, Ross High School
The production simply wouldn’t have been as “loverly” without the efforts of the props and special effects teams. From a glowing fire pit to baskets bursting with flowers, the student-made props contributed immensely to the spectacle’s early 20th-century feel, especially in Professor Higgins’s study, which was furnished with a realistic gramophone and an indecipherable phonetics chart. – Nadya Ellerhorst, Walnut Hills High School
Aiden Hubbard’s performance as the stubborn, yet genius Henry Higgins was also well-executed. The actor did not shy away from Higgins’s snobbery, and his assertive vocal style fit the character to boot. – Lucy Lawler, Saint Ursula Academy
With a stage crew of only six, all scene changes were prompt and kept the same velocity as the show. As the script is written for roughly three hours, the stage crew didn’t prolong the performance. A standout performance was given by Anna Colletto who glowed as Eliza Doolittle. Colletto sang Eliza’s solos beautifully, adding her own acting chops to the rambunctious Cockney flower girl. The technical aspects of this show were flawless. It seemed like every aspect was thoughtfully planned around the others. The choreography and costumes played well together with strategic flowing and twirling of dresses and drapery. The set interacted well with the projections for the background. Props also were well-placed and very purposeful. The lighting crew, led by Matthew Rychlik and Kathryn Taylor, was dazzling. COVID-19 Update: Reopening of restaurants, bars, and personal care services
CURRENT OHIO DATA
There are 22,131 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Ohio and 1,271 confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths. A total of 4,140 people have been hospitalized, including 1,167 admissions to intensive care units. In-depth data can be accessed by visiting coronavirus.ohio.gov.

Clermont County
115 confirmed cases. 5 probable cases. 120 total cases. 2 confirmed deaths. 1 probable death. 27 Hospitalizations. 60 Recovered.

Warren County

In Loveland City Council unanimously passed a resolution expanding the dates and times for the operation of the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (“DORA”) in downtown Loveland. The action authorized the City Manager to implement this expansion once the State relaxed the Stay at Home Order or allowed residents to leave their homes to engage in non-essential work or activities.
On Thursday, City Manager Dave Kennedy used that authority and announced that the expansion of the DORA will begin Saturday, May 9, at noon and run until 11 PM. The DORA will remain in effect 7 days a week for 60 days.
Within the DORA people can purchase alcoholic beverages in a designated cup from permitted establishments and carry the beverages outside within a defined Downtown area.
Additional picnic tables have been placed in Nisbet Park. Visitors to Historic Downtown may also bring tables or chairs to use as long as they “maintain safe distancing guidelines which will also be posted in the downtown area.”
The newly renovated restrooms in Nisbet Park are also open and will be sanitized daily by the City.
In Columbus, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and Dr. Amy Acton, MD, MPH, announced Thursday the next phase of the Responsible RestartOhio plan as it relates to restaurants, bars, and personal care services.
As part of yesterday’s announcement, Governor DeWine reminded Ohioans that COVID-19 is still “incredibly dangerous” and stressed the importance of continuing to exercise safe health habits as different sectors of the economy begin to reopen.
“Reopening Ohio is a risk, but it’s also a risk if you don’t move forward. We’re on a dangerous road that has never been traveled before in Ohio and the danger is that we relax and stop taking precautions,” said DeWine. “All of us collectively control this. I ask you to take calculated risks and make good judgments. Continue social distancing, washing your hands, and wearing face coverings. If you aren’t concerned with what happens to you, do it for others.”

- Dine-in service: May 21

Personal care services such as hair salons, barbershops, day spas, nail salons, and tanning facilities may reopen on May 15.
