Obetz, Ohio – Loveland High School Senior Jessie Gibbins led her Women’s Cross Country Team to the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I Championship’s runner-up trophy Saturday. She was the 12th fastest woman in Ohio today. Gibbons is in the photo hoisting the trophy skyward – that her teammates will all be showing off at the high school Monday. Gibbins finished with a time of 18:25.2.
The Men’s team Team placed 12th overall and was led by Senior Ryan Chevalier (15:37.3) who was the 14th fastest on the course today.

Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland High School (LHS) Women’s and Men’s Cross Country Teams are re-writing school history one broken record at a time!
In addition to being the 2021-2021 Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) Champs, last Saturday at Troy High School the LHS Women’s Cross Country Team captured the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division 1 Regional Title with a score of 69 for the first time ever in Tiger history. This qualified the entire team to compete in the OHSAA State Division 1 Women’s Championship set to go down this Saturday at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park at 3 PM. This will be the Women’s 3rd trip to State as a team since the conception of the cross country program (2007, 2019, and 2021).
Senior Jesse Gibbins took the top time at Regionals for the Tigers placing 4th with a time of 19:15.7. To see the official results from the OHSAA Regional Division 1 Women’s 5k click here.
Earlier this season the LHS Women’s Cross Country Team broke another school record at the Loveland Sunset Invitational having 5 women in the same race run under 19 minutes! That race and the OHSAA District Division 1 Women’s 5k put 5 Tigers in the top 8 in the ECC for their individual 5k times.
The LHS Men’s Cross Country Team has also made a name for themselves this year grabbing their first ECC title in 15 years! Building off that history-changing title, the Men collected a 4th place finish with a score of 143 at the OHSAA Division 1 Regional Men’s Championships, allowing them to qualify as a team for the State Tournament. With that accomplishment, the LHS Cross Country Teams again broke a school record, as it is the first time ever in LHS history that both Cross Country squads qualified for the State Tournament in the same year! This will also be the Men’s 3rd trip to the State Tournament as a team (1971, 2020, and 2021).

After all of the impressive running by the Men, 4 Tigers are in the top 9 in the ECC for their individual 5k times.
The Men’s Cross Country Team is in 7th place in the State of Ohio per the OATCCC poll.

We are so proud of both teams and thought it was necessary to showcase all their accomplishments to the community so that we could all root them on before the big race!

The High School asks that youhave your class step into the hallway, outside of your classroom for the send-off parade. The Cross Country athletes, coaches, and the drumline will come to every floor beginning promptly at 10:35 AM.

Loveland, Ohio – Have you ever seen a Tiger this fast? On Saturday, September 25th the LHS Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams competed in the Loveland Sunset Invitational where they both grabbed 1st place finishes! The Women won with a score of 15 and the Men took the top spot with 17.
The Loveland Women’s Cross Country Team not only secured a 1st place finish as a team but also broke some school records along the way. The Tigers for the first time ever had 4 Women run under 19 minutes in the same 5k race, with the top 7 finishing 1-2-3-4-5-8-9. Previously the Women had only had 2 Tigers in the same race finish under 19 minutes.
Senior Emmy Sager secured a 1st place finish with a time of 18:32.70, Senior Jessie Gibbins placed 2nd with a time of 18:35, Senior Sarah Madix crossed the line in 3rd with a time of 18:36.7, Junior Madison Conatser finished 4th with a time of 18:57.9, Junior Ally Colegate placed 5th with a time of 19:19.2, Senior Maaike Snider finished in 8th place with a time of 19:44.1, and Sophmore Lauren Gard placed 9th with a time of 19:54. The Tigers for the 1st time in school history are not only ranked number 1 in the state according to the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches poll they are also number 1 in the state for their average team time on Ohio MileSplit. In addition to all those impressive team accolades, individually several of the Loveland Women are at the top of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) with their latest times. Emmy Sager is number 1 in the ECC, Jessie Gibbins is number 2, Sarah Madix is number 3, Madison Conatser is number 5, and Ally Colegate is number 8.

The Loveland Women’s Cross Country Team will compete again Saturday, October 2nd at Centerville’s Saturday Night Lights.
The Loveland Men’s Cross Country Team captured a nice win at their home meet last Saturday finishing 1-2-3-5-6-8-9 with a runner’s average of 16:30.
Senior Ryan Chevalier finished in 1st place with a time of 16:04.2, Junior Brady Steiner placed 2nd with a time of 16:08.2, Junior Cayden Dyer finished in 3rd with a time of 16:30.3, Freshman Nick Huff placed 5th with a time of 16:50.2, Senior Sam Neiger placed 6th with a time of 16:57, Junior Grant Hanson crossed the finish line in 8th place with a time of 17:08.5, and Senior Kyle Becker placed 9th with a time of 17:14.6. The Tigers are currently ranked 6th in the state according to the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches poll and several individuals are ranked at the top in the ECC. Ryan Chevalier is ranked number 2, Brady Steiner is sitting in 4th place, and Cayden Dyer is in 7th place.

Symmes Township, Ohio – And the Tigers did it again! On Saturday, September 4th the Loveland High School Women’s Varsity Cross Country Team collected another 1st place finish only this time it was at their home course, the Home of the Brave Park in Symmes Township. The Tigers placed 1st out of 13 teams with a score of 31 at the 2021 Loveland Cross Country Invitational.
Senior Jessie Gibbins ran a season-best crossing the finish line in 2nd place with a time of 18:43.9, Senior Emmy Sager also ran a season-best time finishing in 4th with a time of 18:48.9, Junior Madison Conatser finished right behind Sager in 5th place with a season-best time of 19:08.1, Senior Sarah Madix placed 7th with a season-best time of 19:20.4, Junior Ally Colgate ran a season-best time of 19:48.8 placing 13th, Senior Maaike Snider placed 19th with a season-best time of 20:20.1, and Sophomore Lauren Gard rounded out the Tigers top 7 running another season-best time of 21:16.9 putting her in 31st.
Not only did nearly every Tiger run a season-best on Saturday, now 6 of the ladies are officially in the top 10 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) for their performances!

Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Tigers were not short of achievements this spring sports season, bringing in multiple awards for the school.
Coach Andrea Setser was named the Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) Coach of the Year on her first year of coaching for the lacrosse team. Coach Herb Laughman was named ECC Coach of the Year for women’s track, while Coach Jim Vanatsky was named ECC Coach of the Year for men’s track.
6 women on the Loveland Women’s Track team made ECC First Team All-Conference, and 8 more women were Second Team All-Conference. 11 men on the Loveland Men’s Track team made ECC First Team All-Conference, and 9 more men were Second Team All-Conference.
First Team All-Conference winners for the men’s team include Brady Steiner (10), J.P. Tew (11), Ajay Stutz (12), Ryan Chevalier (11), Trey Powell (11), Aaron Morton (12), Max Flanders (12), Dylan Schwinn (10), Aaron Schuetter (11), Jesse Jenkins (12), and Ryan Hetzel (12). First Team All-Conference winners for the women’s team include Madison Conatser (10), Emmy Sager (11), Sarah Madix (11), Jessie Gibbins (11), Nicole Dierling (11), and Mikayla Loomis (11).
On the baseball team, Jake Zicka (12) received the All-Conference Second Team award, and teammate Connor Wessel (11) received the ECC All-Conference Honorable Mention award.
Men’s Lacrosse had 8 award winners. Zach Mulligan (11), Scott Phelan (12), Ethan Lund (11), Jackson Noe (11), and Will Westermeyer (11) received the All-Conference First Team awards. Honorable mentions included Breckin Sharkey (12), Weston Manske (12), and Roman Wilburn (11).
On the softball team, Jerrah Harcourt (12) received the All Conference Second Team award along with Mya Jordan (11). Kaylee Needham (10) received the honorable mention.
Women’s Lacrosse had many great achievements including Carly Wilhoite (12) being named the ECC Player of the Year. As mentioned, Coach Andrea Setser was named ECC Coach of the Year on her first year of coaching for the lacrosse team. ECC All Conference First Team winners included Hanna Wenger (12), Josey Storm (12), and Maggie Nance (12). Abbie Miller (12), Allie Despotakis (10), and Katie Beasley (11) were all named All-Conference Second Team. Skylar Mosconi (12) won the honorable mention.
Loveland Men’s Volleyball also received a few awards with Tyler Miller-Bross (12) winning the All-Conference First Team award and Eric Keldsen (12), Stone Thole (12), and Mason Mueller (12) winning honorable mentions.
Overall, in ending the school year, Loveland was second place behind Turpin in the All Sports Trophy by 1.3 points. Loveland scored a 74 in the fall, 61.5 in the winter, and a 54.5 in the spring for a total of 190. Way to go Tigers!
Columbus (Hilliard High School), Ohio – Saturday, June 5th, 11 members of the Loveland Track and Field team competed in the OHSAA State Championships.
The 5 women going to state included Sarah Madix (11), Mady Conatser (10), Jessie Gibbins (11), Emmy Sager, (11) and Ally Carpenter (10). While the 6 men going to state included JP Tew (11), Brady Steiner (10), Ajay Stutz (12), Ryan Chevalier (11), Jesse Jenkins (12), and Ethan Smith (12).
The 4×800 (3600) meter relay resulted in an amazing Division One Runner-Up award for the Men’s team with a time of 7:48.83, less than 2 seconds behind Lakota West’s time of 7:47.48.
The Women’s team scored an amazing 4th place behind Mentor, Dublin Coffman, and Hilliard Davidson with a time of 9:15.82.
Along with these amazing group achievements, the team had some incredible individual awards. Ryan Chevalier scored 10th in the 1600 meter run, with a time of 4:17.55. Madison Conatser placed 7th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.64 and Jessie Gibbins placed 12th in the 800 meter with a time of 2:17.50. Go Tigers!

Loveland, Ohio – For the 1st time in Loveland High School history, two State qualifiers will be running in the same event at the Ohio Track and Field Championship. Sophomore, Madison Conatser (2:20.50) and Junior, Jessie Gibbins (2:20.60) placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the 800 meter run at the Regional Championships. The pair also qualified in the 4×800 meter relay team with teammates Emmy Sager, and Sarah Madix.
The track and field state tournament is Friday and Saturday at three Central Ohio high schools, since Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at The Ohio State University is not available due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Division I meet, featuring the Tiger athletes will be held at Hilliard Darby High School. Loveland, Ohio –Â Sports across the world have had many obstacles to overcome in 2020 as the spread of COVID-19 caused seasons and post-season tournaments to be canceled or rescheduled. Many Fall sports in the state of Ohio were able to postpone their seasons and eventually get back to the games they so cherish. Though athletes and coaches were worried that they wouldn’t be prepared for any type of competition due to only being able to virtually practice for several months, that just wasn’t the case for the Loveland Tigers!
Loveland High School’s Fall Sports teams excelled in their 2020-2021 seasons, many teams and individuals receiving several accolades for their performances. Without further ado, here is your Loveland Sports 411 with me, Cassie Mattia!
Football
The Loveland Tigers Football Team had quite the year as they had to deal with their season and post-season being held-up due to COVID-19. Even though the Tigers had a lot to overcome, they still gave their best effort during their competitions. The Tigers rounded up their season 0-4 in the ECC and 1-6 overall. The ECC 2020-2021 Champions this year were both Kings and Winton Woods.

Calvin Cloud had a stellar season placing 2nd in the ECC in Offensive Passing Yards with 1,950. As of current, the ECC has not published the post-season football awards.
Women’s Volleyball
The Loveland Women’s Volleyball Team made it quite far in the post-season tournament, getting all the way to the 3rd round!
On October 22nd the Tigers played Little Miami in the 1st round of the post-season tournament at Lakota East. Loveland beat the Panthers in 3 out of the 4 games, 22-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-16.
On October 24th the Tigers faced West Clermont in the 2nd round of tournament play where they won 3 out of the 4 games, Â 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22.
Finally on October 27th Loveland played powerhouse Mount Notre Dame in the 3rd round of the tournament and lost 25-10, 25-14, 25-9.
The Loveland Women’s Volleyball finished their hard-fought 2020-2021 season 8-8 in the ECC and 14-10 overall. Loveland also had some impressive Tigers make into the top 5 in several categories in the ECC! Diana Clark placed 3rd in the ECC in Digs with 399 and 1st in the ECC in Pass Points with 1,266. Abbie Miller placed 5th in the ECC in Assists with 428 while Audrey Planner placed 4th in the ECC in Pass Points with 899 and 5th in Kills with 249.Â
Several Loveland Women’s Volleyball Tigers were awarded ECC honors for their regular season performances! Diana Clark received ECC’s 1st Team, Audrey Planner was awarded 2nd Team, and Maya Jepson was honored with ECC’s Honorable Mention.
The ECC Women’s Volleyball Champions for the 2020-2021 season was Lebanon.
Men’s Soccer
The Men’s Soccer Team had a great season earning OHSAA District Runner-up.
The Loveland Men’s Soccer Team ended the season with a bang also making it far into the post-season tournament and racking up some well-deserved ECC accolades!
On October 19th the Tigers played Withrow in the 1st round of the post-season tournament and won 7 – 0.
On October 22nd Loveland faced Mount Healthy in the 2nd round of the post-season tournament and again captured a very impressive victory, winning 9 – 0.
The Men’s Soccer Team played Elder on October 24th in the 3rd round of the tournament at Sycamore High School. The game was a nailbiter as it went into overtime where the Tigers claimed another win 3-2!
The Loveland Men’s Soccer Team rounded out the season 6-1-1 in the ECC and 13-3-3 overall making them the 2020-2021 ECC Champions along with Turpin. This was the 3rd season in a row that Loveland claimed the ECC Champions title!
Several Tigers ranked in the top 5 in the ECC in several categories. Helge Harris placed 3rd in the ECC in Offensive Points with 35 and Kees Ciric placed 5th with 33. Harris also placed 3rd in the ECC for Goals with 15 and Ciric grabbed 5th place in Assists with 9. Dylan Schwinn placed 1st place in the ECC in Shutouts with 7.5. Coach Mike Dunlap received ECC Coach of the Year for the 3rd year in a row and Kees Ciric was honored with Player of the Year and ECC’s 1st Team. Helge Harris and Nick Williams received ECC’s 1st Team honors as well. Addison Hearn and Joe Stepaniack were honored with ECC’s 2nd Team while Peyton Kubin was awarded Honorable Mention.
Women’s Soccer
Head Coach Todd M. Kelly was named ECC’s Women’s Coach of the Year
The Loveland Women’s Soccer Team claimed the ECC 2020-2021 Champions title with a 7-0-1 ECC record and a 14-1-3 overall record. The Tigers have now been ECC Champions 6 times out of the past 9 seasons!

On October 24th the Tigers played West Clermont in the 1st round of the post-season tournament winning 1 – 0.
Loveland then went on to face Oak Hills in the 2nd round of the tournament and after giving all that they could give, the Tigers lost 1 – 0.
2020 ECC Girls Soccer Champions
The success of the Women’s Soccer Team showed as several of the Tigers placed in the ECC in several categories! Lauren Donovan placed 4th in the ECC in Offensive Points with 26 and finished in 1st place in Assists with 12. Shraya Smolenski also placed in the ECC in Assists, grabbing 3rd with 7. Eva Dudeck placed 1st in the ECC with 13.0.
Loveland racked up quite a few post-season ECC awards for their successful 2020-2021 season! Head Coach Todd M. Kelly was awarded ECC’s Coach of the Year and Lauren Donovan was honored with Player of the Year and ECC’s 1st Team. Eve Dudeck, Abby Pawlikowski, and Leiah Goedde also received 1st Team ECC honors. Ella James and Brooke Hatfield received ECC’s 2nd Team and Sophia Kapzukiewicz was awarded Honorable Mention.Â

The Loveland Men’s Cross Country Team is having a historical season this year as they recently qualified for the 2020 OHSAA State Cross Country Tournament as a team, something they haven’t done in 49 years!
The Tigers had several top performers in the ECC after the regular season meets, 7 ranking in the top 25! Below are Loveland’s personal best times for the season and where they fell among the top 25.
On October 17th the Loveland Men’s Cross Country Team placed 2nd in ECC Championship Meet at Home of Brave Park. Loveland scored 57 points. Ryan Chevalier was the ECC 1st place champion finishing with a time of 15:51.60. Brady Steiner also placed in the top 10 grabbing the 7th place spot with a time of 16:39.98.

The OHSAA District Cross Country Championship meet was held at Voice of America Park on October 24th where the Tigers successfully qualified for Regionals as a team! Loveland finished in 2nd place with 66 points. Ryan Chevalier was the Tigers top performer finishing in 4th place with a time of 15:39.3. Sam Neiger also finished in the top 10 securing a 9th place finish with a time of 16:29.5.
On Halloween, the Tigers traveled to Troy, Ohio to compete in OHSAA’s Regional Cross Country meet. In order to qualify for the State Championship, which will be held at Fortress Obetz in Obetz, Ohio on November 7th, Loveland had to be one of the top 5 teams and they did just that! The Men’s Cross Country team finished in 5th place with 168 points. If you would like to see the full results of the Regional meet click the following link: Region 4 – Division I Boys. Â Ryan Chevalier was the top finisher for the Tigers grabbing the 7th place spot with a time of 15:58.8. Sam Neiger finished 37th with a time of 17:00.4, Cayden Dyer placed 40th with a time of 17:02.0, Ajay Stutz crossed the finish line in 48th with a time of 17:09.6, Brady Steiner placed 53rd with a time of 17:11.4, Colin Beran finished in 71st place with a time of 17:34.5, and Grant Hanson placed 109th with a time of 18:32.1. The Tigers will run the Division 1 Championship at 3 PM on November 7th.
The Tigers’ successful season brought one individual on the team a huge honor within the ECC! Ryan Chevalier was selected as the 2020-2021 ECC Runner of the Year. Lebanon claimed the 2020-2021 ECC Champions Title.

Advancing to the Regional Meet
The Loveland Women’s Cross Country team ran like true Tigers this season as the team advanced to Regionals!
On October 17th the Tigers ran at the Home of the Brave Park for the ECC Championship meet. Loveland placed 2nd with 61 points. For the full ECC Championship meet results click the following link: 2020 ECC Cross Country Championship Results (Girls) Emmy Sager was the top Tiger finisher placing 6th with a time of 19:23.98. Jessie Gibbins also placed in the top 10 finishing in 8th place with a time of 19:32.59.
On October 24th Loveland competed in OHSAA’s District Cross Country meet at Voice of America Park. The Tigers qualified for the Regional Cross Country meet by placing 2nd with 75 points. Emmy Sager finished in the top 10 crossing the finish line in 3rd place with a time of 18:59.6.Â
On October 31st in Troy, Ohio at OHSAA’s Regional Cross Country meet Loveland missed making the State Tournament as a team by one spot finishing in 6th place with 169 points. To see the full meet results click the following link: Region 4 – Division I Girls.
In order for individual runners on their designated team to qualify for the State Championship, the runner had to finish in the top 20. Emmy Sager who finished in 8th place with a time of 19:01.9 was the only Tiger to qualify for the State Meet, which will be held in Obetz, Ohio on November 7th.
The rest of Loveland’s Women’s Cross Country team ran great races Jessie Gibbins finishing in 23rd with a time of 19:39.6, Maaike Snider placing in 45th with a time of 20:15, Sophia Huff finishing in 47th with a time of 20:20.4, Ally Colegate finishing in 63rd with a time of 20:43.2, and Ellie Carr placing in 103rd with a time of 22:03.7.Â
After so many great performances throughout the season, several Tigers ended the 2020-2021 season ranked within the top 20 in the ECC for their stellar 5k times. Below are where each individual runner placed and their season personal best 5k time.
The Men’s Golf Team won the ECC this year with an undefeated record! This is the 2nd year in a row that the Tigers have managed to grab the ECC Champions title.
Head Coach David Allan won ECC Coach of the Year and Tyler Vallee was awarded Golfer of the Year. Several other Tiger golfers received ECC honors for their excellent performances during the 2020-2021 season. Joe Jankowski, Anthony Moran, and Tyler Vallee joined ECC’s First Team, Aiden Callahan was awarded 2nd Team, and Ben Kirlin joined 3rd Team.
There were a couple of top-performing Tiger golfers that were honored with ECC accolades for the 2020-2021 season. Emme Amy was awarded ECC’s 2nd Team and was ranked 17th in the league for her performance with a 48.00 average and 171 holes. Kristin Dygert received ECC’s 3rd Team.

The Loveland Women’s Tennis Team had a historical 2020-2021 season as they finished at the top of the ECC with a 7.5 for the regular season and an 11.0 for the tournament totaling 18.5! The Tigers were ECC Champions for the second year in a row with a 5-2 league record and a 14-4 overall record.

The Loveland Tennis Team gathered several ECC awards as Head Coach Mikayla Pitman received ECC’s Coach of the Year and Maira Hodar was awarded ECC’s 1st Team in Singles. Tess Broermann and Hannah Wenger also received ECC’s 1st Team in Doubles. Jenna Batsch and Babs Dwyer were awarded ECC’s 2nd Team in Doubles and Grace Haught received Honorable Mention in Singles.
Thus far into the 2020-2021 Athletics season, Loveland is in 2nd place with 74 points for the ECC’s All-Sports Trophy. Turpin currently is in the top spot for the All-Sports Trophy with 76 points.
Here at Loveland Magazine, we want to congratulate the Loveland Tigers Fall Athletic squads for all the hard work and dedication they put into perfecting their craft! We understand it has been a difficult time for the sports world, but we couldn’t be prouder of how Loveland Athletics was able to overcome the obstacles that were thrown at the high school student-athletes, coaches, parents, and administrators. Loveland, Ohio –Â Loveland High School Athletics has yet again seen several Tiger teams reach their peak as the Winter Sports season comes to an end! Loveland’s Athletic Director, Brian Conaster, made the announcement Monday that Liam Hamill will be competing in the State Championship for Wrestling and the Women’s Indoor Track Team will be competing in the National Championship.
Senior Liam Hamill wrestled his heart out on Saturday lending him the opportunity to advance to the State Championship Tournament which will take place in Columbus on Friday, March 13th through Sunday, March 15th. Liam finished at the top of the 170 weight class in the ECC with 34 wins, 9 losses, and 23 pins. Check out these photos from over the weekend of Hamill pre and post-victory!

Loveland’s Women’s Indoor Track Team also made some noise this weekend at the State Tournament placing 13th as a team! Several Lady Tigers competed at the chance to make it to the National Tournament, which will be held in Harlem, New York beginning on Friday, March 13th. Individually Kaitlyn Andrews competed in the 60m dash and the 200m dash, Miya Brines competed in the 60m hurdles and the long jump, Sarah Hallock competed in the 400m dash, Emmy Sager competed in the 3200m run, Megan Korniak competed in the high jump, and Sophia Horrigan competed in the pole vault. The Tigers also competed in the 4x200m relay, which included Miya Brines, Kaitlyn Andrews, Reagan Brunett, and Sarah Hallock, the 4x400m relay, which consisted of Ellie Carr, Ava Westfall, Chloe Smeller, and Sarah Hallock, and the 4x800m relay, which included Ellie Carr, Jessie Gibbins, Sarah Madix, and Ansley Richards.
After competing like Tigers over the weekend Miya Brines advanced to Nationals in the 60m hurdles and the 4x800m relay team advanced as well! Brines will be racing on Saturday, March 14th while the 4x800m relay squad will compete on Friday, March 13th. Check out the podium shot that was captured of our Lady Tigers on Sunday!
Conaster was so proud of the Tigers that advanced to the State and National Tournaments that he decided to host a send-off parade at LHS on Wednesday, March 11th, at 2 pm. Conaster reminded teachers to, “Please have your class step into the hallway, outside of your classroom, for the send-off parade. Our student-athletes, their coaches and the drumline will come to every floor starting at 2:00 pm. Please have your class, out in the hallway, to cheer them on! We appreciate your support for these athletes!”
