  • Do you know the poverty rate in our beloved city of Loveland?

Do you know the poverty rate in our beloved city of Loveland?

A message from the LIFE Food Pantry

Did you know the poverty rate in our beloved city of Loveland is 10%? The LIFE food pantry helped to feed 20,000 people in 2021 and is on track to exceed that number for 2022. We rely on donations of not only food, but money as well, to purchase perishables and help with emergency financial assistance for our clients.

We are so very thankful for our donors who help us continue our mission of serving those in need. Please consider giving to LIFE by clicking the link below. No donation is too small to make a difference in the life of our neighbors who need a helping hand.

Please remember as you go about attending public events around Loveland this holiday season that many venues are offering ways to help the food pantry – check out the event information before you go. These opportunities are also a great way to teach your children to remember those who struggle with food insecurity. They can pick out the food from your own pantry or help you shop for the donations.

You can also drop off donations right at the Panty.

Coats for Kids: Warm winter gear for children in Loveland

Loveland, Ohio – Allison Spitzley, a junior at Loveland High School, is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award project, which is creating the annual program, Coats for Kids. The goal of this program, which is through the LIFE Food Pantry, is to provide children of LIFE clients with warm winter gear.

They are collecting donations of new or gently used coats, hats, mittens/gloves, scarves, socks, and winter boots for all ages (infant – adult).

For more information about this program, you can go to lifefoodpantry.org/coats-for-kids/.

There are three ways to donate to this program: purchasing items from the Amazon wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/216U8YQ2XE547?ref_=wl_share

Sponsorships are available. Donations can be made to LIFE Food Pantry please specify that it is for the Coats for Kids program. Businesses contributing to the banner will be thanked on LIFE’s website. Donations can be made to LIFE Food Pantry please specify that it is for the “Coats for Kids” program.

Today, approximately 10.5% of Loveland’s population is under the poverty line. Studies show nearly 60% of Americans will directly experience poverty at some point during their adulthood. That means that these families are having to make tough choices on which necessities are needed the most – rent, utilities, food, clothing. All kids should have a carefree childhood and not have to worry about how to stay warm during the winter. Giving a child a brand new winter gear instills confidence and improves their overall wellness to help them thrive and achieve their goals.

If you are interested in joining the team to lead a collection in your neighborhood, please reach out to Allison at allison.spitzley@gmail.com

    by David Miller

Loveland, Ohio – Who doesn’t remember being a kid and you get the fresh new box of crayons, Terri Carter answered when I asked her why the LIFE Food Pantry does their Back to School Backpack Drive each year. She continued, “It’s a new start. It’s a new year. It’s a new backpack filled with supplies.”

It’s early, but it’s never too early to help Loveland Area children be ready to head to their first day of Fall classes. You can help them go back with the same things and confident attitude that their more affluent classmates will have. Terri explains why in the interview.

Carolina Maurer added, “With dignity. With new school things.”

Terri is the President of the food pantry and Carolina coordinates their back-to-school program. I spoke to both today at the food pantry in Shoppers Haven to find out what they are doing and how you can help. I’m pretty sure after watching them answer questions, you will be willing to pitch in.
