    Loveland Schools will close on day of solar eclipse

    Loveland, Ohio – There will be no school for students on Monday, April 8 for students in the Loveland City School District. A partial solar eclipse will cross over Loveland that day and Superintendent Mike Broadwater has announced, “The timing of the eclipse presents a safety challenge. The eclipse will stretch over a period of about two hours around afternoon dismissal time. Students would be on buses, walking, or driving home when the eclipse hits its peak, making it very challenging for students to view this once-in-a-lifetime event safely”.

    Broadwater continued, “I understand that a change to the schedule may be an inconvenience for families, which is why we’ve made this decision now, to give everyone time to prepare. Staff will still report to work on April 8 and use the time for professional development and training.”

The studio is set to open its doors on Friday, February 16.     “The Lagree Method,” is a high-intensity, low-impact exercise method, that tightens, strengthens, and tones in as little as 30 minutes a session by incorporating bodybuilding principles, such as Time Under Tension, which removes breaks from workouts and grants users the ability to sweat, shake, and persevere through the total duration of every class.

    In addition, many Lagree movements incorporate the use of 600 muscles at once, making this method even more time-efficient for those on the go and those looking for quick but lasting results.

    Adam Engel, a retired MLB player, and Isaac Spence, both 2010 graduates of Loveland High School, are excited to share their passion for fitness with the community in their hometown.

    The studio is equipped with the latest Lagree Miniformer machines, experienced trainers, and a welcoming environment for individuals of all fitness levels. The instructors make every class an amazing workout experience for all fitness levels! Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Lagree enthusiasts are encouraged to attend!

    Loveland, Ohio – On National Letter of Intent Day in the Chuck Schmidt Gymnasium at Loveland High School, Athletic Director Rich Bryant officiated the Winter Athletic Signing Day ceremony.

    Congratulations to the following student-athletes who will be continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level:

    School Board selects Jonathan Eilert as President and Lynn Mangan to serve as Vice President

    Loveland, Ohio – At the January 9th Loveland City School District Board meeting, newly elected Board members Lynn Magan and Christina Jeranek took their oath of office. The five-member Board then voted unanimously to elect Jonathan Eilert to serve as President and Lynn Mangan to serve as Vice President.

    Terry Lynch and Giovanni Ricci inducted into Loveland High School Athletic Hall of Fame

    Loveland, Ohio – On Friday, January 12, between the JV and Varsity basketball games, Terry Lynch and Giovanni Ricci were inducted into the Loveland High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

    The 6-3, 240 lbs Ricci plays tight-end for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, played for Western Michigan, and went to the Cotton Bowl in 2017. The 2015 Loveland High School grad was a 4-year Varsity Letterman in Football and Track and Field.

    Terry Lynch ran cross country and wrestled at Loveland. The 3-year Varsity letterman in Wrestling graduated in 1983. Terry was a 2 time State placer in wrestling and 2-year Eastern Hills League Wrestling Champion.

    Loveland, Ohio – It’s been awfully fun photographing the Loveland High School Women’s and Men’s basketball games this season. As you will see in this slide show there is non-stop effort and excitement from both teams.

    Dr. Kathryn Lorenz service to Loveland City School District celebrated with scholarship fundraiser

    Loveland, Ohio – Dr. Kathryn Lorenz said “It was amazing to see family, friends, students. So many loved ones,” after the fundraiser and to honor her 32 years of service as a member of the Loveland City School Board.

    The Dr. Kathryn Lorenz Scholarship amount is now up to $1750. The scholarship is sponsored by the Loveland Schools Foundation and is in Kathy’s honor.

    “It was a wonderful day honoring Kathy’s service to our community,” said newly elected Board member, Lynn Mangan one of the organizers of the event at the Oasis Conference Center on December 10th.

    Former Loveland Superintendant, Chad Hilliker, now the Superintendent of the Hamilton County Educational Service Center was the Master of Ceremonies for the sit-down dinner that featured presentations and words of appreciation from many of Kathy’s former colleagues, professional cohorts, and family members.

    Mangan added, “We are so grateful for the community members, Loveland City Schools past and present staff, Great Oaks staff, and many other family and friends who attended Kathy’s retirement celebration. Kathy has given so much over the last 32 years to the children and families of our community. We all owe her a debt of gratitude. It was absolutely wonderful to hear from so many people whom she impacted throughout her time on Loveland’s Board of Education.”

    In expressing her gratitude Lorenz said, “So many people worked to create such a beautiful event”

    Mental Health Awareness Basketball Games at Loveland High School

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland High School Hope Squad will host its 2nd annual Mental Health Awareness Basketball Games on Thursday, January 11 (Women vs. Winton Woods) and Friday, January 12 (Men vs. Winton Woods).

    Local organizations will be at the games to share important mental health resources with our community. They are asking all fans to wear purple and teal to the games, and they are again selling t-shirts in support of suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Follow this link to purchase shirts in adult and youth sizes.

    The online store will close on December 15.

    A $2 donation per shirt will go to the Loveland Hope Squads.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland High School Varsity basketball teams play in a rare doubleheader tonight. The Women’s team tips off at 6 PM and the Men’s game will begin at 7:30 when the Turpin Spartans travel to the Tiger fieldhouse.

  • Loveland City School District Preschool registration is now open

    Loveland City School District Preschool registration is now open

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City Schools Preschool program was developed to serve children 3-5 years of age with a wide variety of disabilities qualifying for special education services in response to a federal mandate. The District says that the program model includes children with typical development to provide a more inclusive and enriching learning environment and experience.

    Those interested in entering their typically developing 3-5-year-old child in the Loveland City Schools Preschool program should complete the application and return it directly to the Loveland Early Childhood Center at 6740 Loveland-Miamiville Road. Families will be notified by mail, email, and/or phone regarding admission to the program.

    • Preschool registration for the 2024-25 school year opens on Friday, December 1, 2023.
    • The deadline to apply is January 12, 2024.
    • Families will be notified by February 1, 2024, about whether their child has been offered a spot or placed on the waitlist.
    • Paper applications are available at Loveland Early Childhood Center, including translations in Uzbek, Russian, and other languages.
