On Saturday, October 28th, Loveland Varsity Women’s soccer defeated Springboro in what was essentially a rematch of their fall from victory last year. In overtime with 1:19 remaining, senior Sarah Harter scored the only goal of the game, earning Loveland the regional title. Tomorrow, Tuesday 11/7, the team will take on Powell Olentangy Liberty at Centerville Alumni Stadium at 7PM. Loveland’s Division I team will compete with the hopes of advancing to state finals at the MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus.

“The minutes leading up to the goal were a complete grind-out by the team. It was a well fought game by both teams, and it came down to who wanted it more and who was going to dig deeper to put one in the back of the net. I am so proud to be a part of this team. We are truly a family and I think that each one of us sold out for each other and that’s what won the game,” senior and player, Sarah Harter, told Loveland Magazine.
Watch Coach Todd Kelly speak after Loveland claimed the regional title:
“This team has been working hard since the beginning of June and we have invested so much into season, it’s impossible not to sell out for each other. I absolutely love this team and when I had the opportunity to step on that field during over time, I knew I had to make the moments matters (as my dad always tells me to do). There are people who played all 94 minutes of that game who made that moment possible for us and for me who really deserve the credit for the goal and ultimately the game,” Harter told Loveland, reflecting on her winning goal.
While the team has seen success, the game against Olentangy Liberty will no doubt be a challenge. Olentangy Liberty holds a comparatively lower record (13-5-3 win-loss-tie to Loveland’s 20-1-0), but the teams are from different regions with contrasting overall levels of skill.
“I’m anticipating winning the game and heading back to MAPFRE stadium to finish what we started two years ago,” Senior and goalie, Lauren Parker told Loveland Magazine.
If the team wins, they will compete at MAPFRE Stadium (where professional soccer team Columbus Crew plays) this Friday, 11/10.
The Tigers finished the regular season 14-0 in the ECC and 20-2 overall with a win Saturday, October 14 by beating Oak Hills 25-12, 25-23, 25-16. They won the ECC Championship for the second time in the last six years.
Postseason play begins on October 21 for the Tigers after a first-round bye. They will play either Fairfield (13-7) or Edgewood (9-10) at Lakota West High School at 1:30 PM. View the Vandalia 1 District bracket at the bottom of this story.

Loveland, Ohio – Every day teachers go above and beyond for our students. Now – every month teachers will have some special support to do those “extras.” The Loveland City School District is thrilled to partner with Loveland nonprofit agency JUST BECAUSE GRANTS to provide grant opportunities for teachers in the district.
$1,000 in grants available every month to district teachers by Loveland nonprofit agency
“JUST BECAUSE GRANTS is a reality because of a Loveland family that believes in making dreams come true – for our teachers and ultimately for our students,” said Loveland Interim Superintendent Dr. Amy Crouse. “They want to support teachers to do caring, wonderful things for our students. Things that they want to do and don’t necessarily have to do. They want to award grants to teachers who choose to do incredible things for our kids with money out of their own pockets. I was nearly speechless when their first approached me – now, I really can’t thank them enough.”
JUST BECAUSE GRANTS will award up to $1,000 a month to Loveland teachers who apply through a very simple e-mail process. Grants were announced to teachers at the beginning of September, with the Innovative Instructional Coaches receiving a surprise grant to kick the process off in August.
“I asked for the Innovative Instructional Coaches to be the first recipients,” said Dr. Crouse. “They take care of our teachers with constant professional development which has direct and immediate positive impact on classroom instruction. The team was thrilled!”

Preparing Students for Tomorrow, Today: At the Loveland City School District, this is our collective mission. During the 2016-17 school year our administrative team began to put laser focus into defining exactly what that statement means. From those discussions, a vision was born: We are committed to being a destination school district exemplified through our dedicated approach to the complete student experience. This vision statement is the why we – as professionals – do what we do for our Tiger Family. It was beginning during the 2016-17 school year that all eyes – from our teachers, to our food service professionals, to our support staff, to our custodians, to our bus drivers, to our secretaries – were on three big goals:
• GROWTH– Every Tiger will demonstrate personal academic growth
• INNOVATION – Every Tiger will experience an innovative education environment
• CARE – Every Tiger will be cared for and supported
As we continue pushing forward on these goals for the current 2017-18 school year, I invite you to dive into both the depth and breadth of how each of our goals during the 2016-17 school enhanced the experience for our students. September 11 we officially released our fifth annual Quality Profile – a publication dedicated to detail to you how we do business beyond the standardized testing. This publication gives you the opportunity to take a detailed look at what we – as a district – were able to achieve by keeping our eye on the target of those three big goals. Please visit the “About” section of the district website (http://www.lovelandschools.org/) to access the complete 2016-17 Quality Profile report.
Preparing Students for Tomorrow, Today – it’s what we do. I personally want to thank you for your continued support.
