    Loveland District’s annual Quality Profile

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City School District has earned an overall 5-Star Rating on the Ohio School Report Card. According to Superintendent Mike Broadwater, a 5-Star Report Card means the district “significantly exceeds” state standards. Loveland has achieved the highest rating for three years in a row.

    The District’s annual Quality Profile shown below is a companion to the State Report Card. Ohio School Report Cards are required by law to provide parents, caregivers, community members, educators and policymakers information about district and school performance. The Quality Profile is intended to highlight additional measures families and community members regard as important values, but are not part of the Ohio Department of Education’s report cards.

    The Loveland District Report Card is issued by the Ohio Department of Education.

    Loveland Earns Five Stars in Every Category on Ohio School Report Card

    Loveland City School District has earned a Five Star Overall Rating on the 2023-2024 Ohio School Report Card. Only ten public school districts in the Cincinnati region of Hamilton, Butler, Warren, and Clermont Counties earned an “Overall Rating” of Five Stars. 

    “Earning a Five-Star Ohio School Report Card is a sign that Loveland City School District delivers a great education to our students. Families should feel great knowing that they are sending their children to a fantastic school district,” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said. 

    The Ohio School Report Card has five component areas: Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Graduation, and Early Literacy. Districts can earn up to five stars in each category but may earn an “Overall Rating” of five stars without fives in every category. Loveland is one of only 18 districts in Ohio to earn Five Stars across the board in each component area. This accomplishment puts Loveland City School District in the top 3% of Ohio’s more than 600 public school districts. 

    “Loveland is incredibly fortunate to have all the ingredients for a top-notch school district – students and staff who work hard every day, along with families and community members who offer us tremendous support. Our entire Loveland City School District community should be proud of this accomplishment,” Broadwater said. 

    Loveland earned an Overall Rating of 5 Stars on the 2022-23 Ohio School Report Card and earned 5 Stars in every category on the 2021-22 Ohio School Report Card.

    Jamie Brown and MacKenzie Liu named Semifinalists in National Merit Scholarship Program

    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland High School Seniors Jamie Brown and MacKenzie Liu have been named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. According to a statement issued by the District, the students, “…earned this honor for their high academic achievement and exemplary scores on their pre-SAT tests.” About 16,000 students nationwide are recognized as National Merit Semifinalists, representing less than 1% of high school seniors.

    “Congratulations to Jamie, MacKenzie, and their families for this amazing accomplishment. Loveland High School is proud to shine a light on their amazing work, and we can’t wait to see what awesome things they accomplish in the future,” LHS Principal Dave Spencer said.

    Press Release continued by saying, “The National Merit Scholarship Program honors academically talented US high school students and stimulates support for their education. National Merit Semifinalists can advance in competition to become National Merit Finalists and qualify for National Merit Scholarships, corporate-sponsored scholarships, and college-sponsored scholarships.”

    “Jamie and MacKenzie have accomplished something that will help set them on a fantastic path for the future. Student success is the number one goal of our #beLOVEland Strategic Vision, and our Loveland Tiger students couldn’t be successful without amazing support from their families, our staff, and our community,” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said.

    Loveland Schools will close on day of solar eclipse

    Loveland, Ohio – There will be no school for students on Monday, April 8 for students in the Loveland City School District. A partial solar eclipse will cross over Loveland that day and Superintendent Mike Broadwater has announced, “The timing of the eclipse presents a safety challenge. The eclipse will stretch over a period of about two hours around afternoon dismissal time. Students would be on buses, walking, or driving home when the eclipse hits its peak, making it very challenging for students to view this once-in-a-lifetime event safely”.

    Broadwater continued, “I understand that a change to the schedule may be an inconvenience for families, which is why we’ve made this decision now, to give everyone time to prepare. Staff will still report to work on April 8 and use the time for professional development and training.”

    Meet the new LHS Principal David Spencer w/Superintendent Mike Broadwater

    Loveland, Ohio – Hey there Loveland! Not sure if everyone has heard the news but Loveland High School has gotten a new principal for the 2023-2024 school year. I decided we needed to get a little interview with Mr. David Spencer and see what he is all about, don’t you agree?

    I interviewed Mr.Spencer along with our superintendent Mr. Mike Broadwater in an effort to welcome him to the community and to get to know him. Before we get to the interview, here are a few things that were discussed.

    I asked Mr. Spencer about his background, where he grew up, how he got into teaching, and basic questions you would ask when getting to know someone. I also touched base with Mr. Broadwater about what changes there were going to be at the Loveland Schools after the Levy passed this last May.

    “Best Short Story” award winner Mahi Sheth knows a thing or two about writing! Mahi is a creative writer whose favorite part about writing is the way words come together to form a story. In Mahi’s downtime, she loves to read and dance. Mahi is a Junior at William Mason High School.

    Loveland, Ohio – Dave Spencer will be Loveland High School’s next principal. He joins Loveland after 19 years in the Forest Hills School District.

    “Loveland High School is the flagship of our district, and I believe Dave Spencer will be a great person to lead LHS. He is a seasoned administrator, and a high-character, student-focused leader.” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said.

    Spencer comes to Loveland High School after eight years as the principal of Turpin High School and eleven years as the assistant principal at Turpin. He has been a high school administrator for 24 years, including five years in Bright Local Schools.

    “I’m excited to be a part of Tiger Nation! I’m looking forward to supporting the students and staff and contributing to the many great things that lie ahead for Loveland High School,” Dave Spencer said.

    Spencer’s hiring is pending approval by the Board of Education. He will lead Loveland High School beginning with the 23-24 school year.

    Current LHS principal Adam Reed will be taking a new role in the Central Office of Mount Healthy City Schools.

    “We thank Adam Reed for his hard work and dedication to our Loveland Tiger students and wish him the best as he takes on an exciting new challenge,” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said.

    Town Hall called to discuss 4.9 mill Loveland operating levy

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City School District will hold a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, April 25, at 6 PM in the Media Center at Loveland Intermediate School. In his April 19 “Schools Update” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said, “The purpose of this Town Hall is to provide a forum for our Loveland City Schools community to ask questions about the upcoming 4.9 mill operating levy on the ballot on May 2.”

    The Town Hall will include the Superintendent, Treasurer Rob Giuffre’ and two members of the Board of Education. It will not be an official meeting of the Board. The Superintendent’s newsletter did not specify which board members will participate in the discussions.

    Only in-person attendees can participate with questions or comments. After the meeting, the live stream recording will be available on the Board of Education YouTube channel.

    During the Town Hall, Broadwater said, “We will work to take questions or comments from as many participants as possible to foster conversation around these important issues.”

    $461,000 awarded to improve Loveland Tiger’s safety

    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland City School District has been awarded nearly a half million dollars in the latest round of the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant program. The state funding will support improvements to safety security upgrades across the district. 

    “The safety of our students is our greatest responsibility, and receiving state support for our efforts will help tremendously. We appreciate Governor DeWine and the General Assembly’s dedication to the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant program,” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said in a news release from the District.

    The grant provides $461,250 to pay for security system improvements across the district. This grant will allow for the installation of additional security cameras and equipment. The grant will also provide funds for new safety technology on all district school buses according to the release.

    This is the fourth round of the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant program. Of all school districts in Hamilton County, Loveland received the fourth-highest grant funding in this current round. Loveland also received $100,000 in the second round of the program, which was used to replace the public address system at Loveland Primary and Loveland Elementary Schools.

    • Loveland Early Childhood Center is earmarked for $65,225 in this latest round.

    • Loveland Elementary is earmarked for $50,000 in this latest round.

    • Loveland High School is earmarked for $100.000 in this latest round.

    • Loveland Intermediate School is earmarked for $97,625 in this latest round.

    • Loveland Middle School is earmarked for $98,400 in this latest round.

    • Loveland Primary School is earmarked for $50,000 in this latest round

    The Goshen Local School District received $400,000 in the latest round of school safety grants. The Great Oaks Career Campus in Clermont County received $100,000.

    There is a “Round Five” to be recommended in the coming weeks according to Governor Mike DeWine Ohio as part of the General Assembly’s House Bill 45.

    Indian Hill Exempted Village School District had previously been awarded $299,714, Sycamore Community Schools $93,824, and Little Miami Local Schools $200,000.

    1 of 12 districts across the state to earn all five-star ratings, placing the district in the top 2% in Ohio.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City School District has announced the results of the 2021-2022 Ohio School Report Card. The district scored a 5-star rating in every category. 

    “This is a tremendous achievement for Loveland City School District, and a testament to the hard work of our students and their families, and the outstanding support offered by our outstanding staff,” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said. 

    Loveland City School District earned five stars in every component of the Ohio School Report Card, including Achievement, Early Literacy, Gap Closing, Graduation Rate, and Progress. Loveland City School District is only one of 12 districts across the state of Ohio to earn all five-star ratings, placing the district in the top 2% in Ohio. 

    “Two goals of our #beLOVEland Strategic Vision are student success and fiscal responsibility. Being able to achieve at a high level while keeping a close eye on the bottom line is further evidence that we are delivering a fantastic educational value for our Loveland City Schools community. We look forward to their continuing support,” Broadwater said.

    Loveland High School’s Evan Osgood receives $25,000 National Honor Society scholarship

    Washington, DC – “This is the honor of a lifetime,” said Evan Osgood, who was awarded the $25,000 top prize by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. “Meeting the other finalists and learning their stories this weekend reinvigorated for me the power of our generation. We can do anything,” said Evan Osgood in a press release issued by the organization.

    Loveland High School’s Evan Osgood was named the winner of the 2022 National Honor Society Scholarship during an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. on Monday evening. He was chosen from nearly 10,000 applicants, and as the winner, he received a $25,000 National Honor Society scholarship.

    “We are incredibly proud of Evan for receiving this honor. He is truly a remarkable young man, and his dedication to others, along with his hard work, will take him on to great things. Congratulations to the entire Osgood family on this accomplishment,” said Superintendent Mike Broadwater in a press release. 

    As a national finalist for the award, Osgood was invited to attend the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Trailblazing Leadership Week, which he attended with his family and Loveland High School Principal Adam Reed. 

    Osgood was recognized for his work during the pandemic creating the nonprofit SOSforPPE, to make and ship protective equipment, along with his creation of STEMsfForYouth, a nonprofit committed to improving access to STEM education.

  • Bus Drivers Shown Love by LECC Staff

    Bus Drivers Shown Love by LECC Staff

    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland school bus drivers got a nice surprise when they pulled into Loveland Early Childhood Center (LECC) Thursday morning. Staff members were outside with signs and breakfast treats to say thank you.

    “Many of our drivers wrap up their morning routes with our youngest students, and the LECC staff took it upon themselves to give back to our drivers. Thank you to everyone who donated items, packed bags, and even cooked breakfast sandwiches for each of our drivers. This is a great example of our Loveland Tiger team members taking care of each other,” said Superintendent Mike Broadwater in the District newsletter on Friday.
