    Loveland Tiger Families,

I wanted to send a special note this afternoon to invite you to our Showcase Night. It takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Loveland High School, beginning at 6 pm.

Showcase Night is an opportunity for us to show our parents and community some of the great programs offered at every grade level. It’s also a chance to do one of my favorite things - talk about our kids and their accomplishments

School hasn’t looked very normal over the past few years, which means we haven’t had as many opportunities for parents, volunteers, and other community members to be inside our buildings. Showcase Night is a chance to change that!

We are also kicking off our Strategic Vision process with a pair of community input sessions. They’ll take place in the Music Room at the High School on Wednesday night. Join us at either 5:30 pm or 6:30 pm to learn more about our Strategic Vision process and how you can get involved. If you can’t make it, look for a link in this week’s Tiger Talk newsletter with more information about a survey we’ll be sharing to gather your feedback or check www.lovelandschools.org/vision to stay up to date.

I’m excited to bring people together to celebrate our students and start a journey together to make the future even better for them.

    Showcase Night

    Next week is going to be exciting for Loveland City Schools. We are hosting our Showcase Night at Loveland High School beginning at 6 PM on Wednesday, February 9. This is a great opportunity for our families, and our community members to see our students and their great work. You can think of this as a district-wide Open House, highlighting cool programs and projects.

    If you’re the parent of a younger Loveland Tiger, this is a chance to see what kinds of things your students may want to get involved with as they move up next year.

    If you’re a community member, this is a chance for you to see what’s already going on, and find out how you can help!

    Quality Profile

    Our Quality Profile was also released this week. This 12-page document we created in-house is a great chance for you to review district accomplishments over the last year, so even if you can’t make it to Showcase Night, you can still be informed. You can view our Quality Profile by following this link to our website.

    All of this is building up to our Strategic Vision process, which kicks off Wednesday night with a pair of Community Input sessions.

    Portrait of a Tiger Vision Process

    These will be held alongside Showcase Night at LHS at 5:30 and 6:30 PM. We’ll be reviewing our “Portrait of a Tiger” which will form the basis of our Strategic Vision process. Together as a community, we’ll build a shared vision of success for our students and lay out the action plan to get us there. You will not have to attend these sessions to participate because we will be sharing tools next week on our website at www.lovelandschools.org/vision to gather as much input as possible from our community.

    We are also building a Strategic Vision Design Team, made up of about 100 people from our community to help in this process. The team will include parents, students, staff, and community members who will sit down several times over the next few months to work together to create our vision. We want this group to represent the diverse opinions and insights of our Loveland City Schools community and if you or someone you know feels called to help us on this important project – you can fill out this form to let us know of your interest and we will be in touch.

    Superintendent Mike Broadwater said, “We really want our community involved in this process. Help us spread the word – we come up with a better plan when we work together across our Loveland City Schools community.”

    Loveland, Ohio – Superintendent Mike Broadwater has announced through a school newsletter that he has closed Loveland Schools on Monday, February 14, the day after Super Bowl Sunday.

    Superintendent: Why there were no quarantined students or staff in Loveland Schools last week

    Loveland, Ohio – After publishing the Loveland School District’s latest COVID 19 Dashboard on Tuesday, January 18, many readers wondered how there could be so many positive cases in the schools but zero students or staff who were quarantined.

    In an email yesterday I asked Superintendent Mike Broadwater: “I have a question that has come up after we published the latest COVID 19 Dashboard image yesterday. People are wondering why there were no quarantine figures on it.”

    Broadwater answered via email saying, “In regards to the Dashboard, there are no more quarantines with the new guidelines set forth by ODH (Ohio Department of Health). The only time you will see a quarantine would be if the family opts to quarantine their child rather than mask to stay. You’ll notice all zeroes with the exception of a few single quarantines since the new guidelines were released.”

    New CDC Guidelines were implemented 1/3/2022 and are reflected in subsequent reporting.

    The current District quarantine and mask policy is found on the District website and states:

    Effective November 1, 2021

    The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has made a few minor changes to the quarantine recommendations for K-12 schools, and these new guidelines should help us keep our students healthy and in the classroom, where they learn best. 

    These guidelines will not change our current masking policy, but will change how we handle situations where a student has been identified as a “close contact/direct contact.” 

    Mask to Stay/Test to Play

    Direct contacts, regardless of vaccination or masking status, may remain in the classroom environment if they do the following:

    • Wear a mask for 14 days after their last date of exposure.
    • Self-monitor, or parent-monitor, for symptoms of COVID-19.
    • Isolate and get tested if they start to experience symptoms associated with COVID-19 (regardless of the level of severity).
    • Consistent with guidance for others quarantining in lower-risk environments, students and staff may discontinue these quarantine procedures after seven days – if they don’t develop symptoms and test negative between days 5-7.

    Direct contacts may continue to participate in extracurricular activities if they do the following:

    • Wear a mask when able. (This includes: transportation; locker rooms; sitting/standing on the sidelines; and anytime the mask will not interfere with breathing, the activity, or create a safety hazard.)
    • Test on initial notification of exposure to COVID-19.
    • Test again on days 5-7. If they are negative at this time, they will test out of quarantine.

    We believe the guidance from ODH will keep our students safe, and in school as much as possible, which has been our goal this year.

    Loveland schools going remote Thursday and Friday

    Loveland, Ohio – Because of COVID 19, Loveland City Schools will be in asynchronous learning on Thursday, January 13, and Friday, January 14.

    Teachers will be sending work home with their children at the end of their class day on Wednesday.

    Asynchronous learning means Thursday and Friday are still learning days for students, but they will be learning from home.

    Asynchronous learning is a term used to describe forms of education, instruction, and learning that do not occur in the same place or at the same time. 

    Superintendent Mike Broadwater said in a video message today that “Staff will be reporting to the buildings and be available to support students remotely.” He said that absences and illnesses have not only affected students, but also the teaching staff, bus drivers, food services, and custodial staff. He added that according to CDC guidelines that if a staff member tests positive for COVID 19 it means they must quarantine from the buildings or their workplace for 5-days.

    Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and the Martin Luther King Holiday will mean students will not be in the buildings for 5 straight days before returning on Tuesday, January 18.

    Broadwater announced that the District will not change its current mask policy when students return on January 18. The current mask policy is that masks are optional for grades 7 through 12. Masking is required in grades PreK through 6th.

    Despite this setback, the Superintendent added “I’m very proud of the fact that we have done such a good job at keeping our kids in school this year.
