[Video] Mom and dad taxi stand dedicated at LHS to honor Josh Carrington

Loveland, Ohio – On July 14, 2023 as the sun was about to set a mom and dad taxi stand, a granite, laser-engraved bench was dedicated at the lower entrance to the Loveland High School outdoor athletic complex. The family of Josh Carrington wanted to honor his all-too-brief life and thank the School District for the myriad ways he was nurtured while he attended Loveland High School.

Family brainstorming led to the vision of a commemorative bench that would give athletes a place to sit in the shade while waiting for a ride home after practice or competition.

In this LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV video, you can watch the dedication ceremony and listen to fond memories of Josh from family members. A former Tiger classmate, a teammate of Josh is interviewed. Amy Van Strien, a former District psychologist talked about how involved Josh was in helping her with her programming. There was rock painting, the release of paper balloons, and many hugs.

The painted rocks will be placed beneath the tree next to the Angles by the Trail mural in downtown Loveland.

Josh graduated from Loveland High School with the class of 2010. Over those four years, Josh participated in football, track (pole vaulting), and wrestling. He was nicknamed “Josh the Spladle” for his wrestling moves.

Josh was also on the Homecoming Court his Senior Year. Josh passed in 2015.

Loveland, Ohio – The public was invited to the Loveland Bike Trail to officially dedicate the “Angels by the Trail” Mural on Sunday morning. The ceremony and ribbon cutting took place at the Linda Cox Parking lot in Historic Downtown Loveland. As a way of giving back to the community, a group of Loveland Area residents, led by Stacie Lund created a mural that is named “Angels by the Trail”. This colorful 65 X 20 foot memorial mural is in memory of Loveland Area children who lost their lives much too soon.

Loveland, Ohio – Here are the sights and sounds of Loveland’s 2023 Memorial Day Parade. If you were in it, you were most likely captured by our LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV camera.

Thank you to everyone involved in marking this most somber occasion to honor those who gave their final sacrifice of life, limb, or sanity, and especially the “Gold Star” families that mourn.

Thank you to the Loveland Veterans Committee, those who walked, rode, or waved, and the numerous local service and civic organizations. Thank you Loveland High School Marching Band and Color Guard.

    An Extraordinary Plea

    Dear Loveland Area Friends,

We are one keystroke and one shutter click away from a technological disaster.

We work from 11-year-old computers and an eight-year-old video camera. This video took perhaps 20 hours longer to edit and produce than it should have because of the antiquated equipment we use.

If you see yourself in this video, a loved one, a best friend, or your favorite Veteran, will you please consider making a donation today?

If you now live out of town or just couldn’t be there and this video adds value to your life by us bringing you to the parade, will you please consider making a donation today?

    With great appreciation and love,

    David and Cassie

by the Loveland High School PTO After Prom Committee

Prom season is here and many of us are busy helping prepare the Juniors and Seniors for what will be a memorable event. Loveland High School’s Prom is this Saturday, May 13th.

Pinning the corsages and boutonnieres, smiling for photos taken by misty-eyed parents – we all remember these traditions.

What may be a new tradition for some families is After Prom.

What exactly is After Prom? As it says in the name, it is an event following Prom, where the kids can continue their celebration in a fun, safe way without alcohol and drugs.

This year’s After Prom is scheduled for this Saturday from 11:30 PM until 2:30 AM am at Loveland High School.

All Loveland Junior and Senior attendees, and the dates of those who attend Prom, will win a door prize when they arrive at After Prom. The school will be transformed into a luau, complete with an inflatable surfboard, henna tattoo artist, and a balloon artist! Everything is included in the ticket price of $20.

A variety of teenager-approved food will be provided due to the generous donations of LaRosa’s, Skip’s Bagels, Dunkin, The Works, Subway, Gigi’s Cupcakes, Sweet Bliss Treats, and Cinemark popcorn.

Many local businesses have donated amazing prizes such as Perfect North, The Cincinnati Reds, Loveland Canoe and Kayak, Paxon’s, King’s Island, Dewey’s Pizza, LHS Athletics, Graeter’s, FC Cincinnati, Eastgate Lanes, The Cincinnati Zoo, The Fowling Warehouse, Altitude Trampoline Park, Dunkin, Whipty Do, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Candado Tacos, Le Peep, McAlister’s, Rusty Bucket, Joella’s Hot Chicken, deSha’s, Qdoba, Bibibop, Frutta Bowls, Blaze Pizza, Tano, Taziki’s, Wynn Nail Spa, El Picante, Rodi, LaRosa’s, Tahona, Ramsey’s, and Bishop’s Quarter.

We are so thankful for the donations from our corporate sponsors including American Legion Post 256, Bush Re Shea Insurance Agency, The City of Loveland, John Hill Construction, LCNB National Bank, Loveland Athletic Boosters, Loveland Dairy Whip, Loveland Fireman’s Association, Loveland Legacy Foundation, Mathnasium, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Union Savings Bank, Wards Corner Chiropractic, Bill’s Kustom Kut, LaRosa’s, Rumpke, Ben Morrison Fund, SAW Pilates, General Electric Credit Union, and the Loveland Eagles.

We want to thank everyone who has contributed to this event. Because of you, we are able to offer fun inflatable activities such as an obstacle course, whack-a-mole, golf chip challenge, and Twister, as well as a gaga pit, 9 square, Nerf battle, ping pong, air hockey, MarioKart gaming, foosball, life sized Jenga, life sized Connect 4, five casino tables, and a stilt walker from Cincinnati Circus!

Oh, and you can’t forget the petting zoo. Yes, there will be animals roaming the halls of Loveland High School, and we’re not talking about the teenagers!

The last day to buy tickets is this today, May 12th at 5 PM.

This event is not to be missed, thanks to the generosity of our community.

    With gratitude,
