Loveland, Ohio – The overflow crowd spilled into the hallways at City Hall On Tuesday, February 9. The Friends of the Loveland Farmers’ Market called citizens to rally at the council meeting to support the return of the Loveland Farmers’ Market to the Jackson Street Market location in Historic Downtown.

All of the 17 people who took the podium spoke favorably of the market itself, but not all were in favor of it returning to Historic Downtown or the Jackson Street Market location. One current business owner spoke in favor, one cited a negative effect on his bottom line.

After the public spoke, council members were given the chance to respond.

  1. Not sure who this new dude – Tom Calarco – is, but there is no doubt he is a Hillary or Bernie man.
He is disrespectful to those that couldn’t attend. I see a handful of mostly new people who want their little quaint loveland 2 blocks and don’t care about those that have to sit in that traffic.
NO FARMERS MARKET IN OLD LOVELAND !!!

  2. What the heck are you even talking about? Since this is not a council decision, it is a matter between the city manager and owner of business, I don’t have any idea what the crowd expected to accomplish. As a matter of fact, I found the council members to be nothing but respectful of the opinions expressed but again this is not a council decision. Clearly Ms Mershon has other motives regarding the Mayor or any other members since they didn’t say anything that was disrespectful. The crowd was actually disrespful to those who disagreed with their opinions, vocally booing when other dissenting opinions were expressed. On a separate note, Ms Mershon inferes that there is “big money” associated with council duties, quite frankly they barely make minimum wage for their time and efforts. There is clearly another agenda with some of the market supporters. Let’s move on to serious city business and worry more about businesses that actually contribute economically to the city tax base.

  4. A Short Video Summary…
I really heard and appreciated what people said… Thanks for coming out.

Even though the council chamber is packed out to overflowing on a cold and snowy night this is just a microcosm of what is really going on.

    Yeah… oh what… mumble mumble… oh the micro-phone…Farmer’s Market.

You people need to go home and let the city manage this… Seriously, we’re in control and even though you live in this community…. Really this is none of your affair…Except for Tim Canada because he’s really important.

Oh and even though we have direct input into whether the city manager stays or goes…. We don’t have input regarding this situation.

Yes and to close this conversation, I’m the mayor and what I say goes… because honestly even though your tax dollars pay my salary I don’t give a **** what you think.
