Outstanding achievement in the Navy JROTC
Loveland High School senior Shelly Turner is a superstar at the Scarlet Oaks Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC). Turner has earned significant local and national awards, including:
- Honor Cadet: Turner was No. 1 out of 160 cadets from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and West Virginia at the NJROTC Basic Leadership Training Camp.
- National Rifle Training Camp: Turner took thirdĀ place at the National Air Rifle Training Camp competing against shooters from all across the country.Ā
- Scarlet Oaks Rifle Team: Turner is the No. 1 shooter for Scarlet Oaks ā the top ranked JROTC rifle team in Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
- Turner was awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart Medal for sustained superior performance as a cadet in the NJROTC Program.

Scarlet Oaks is a career campus in the Great Oaks network – a career-technical education school district affiliated with 36 Cincinnati area schools, including Loveland. Great Oaks is one of the largest districts of its kind in the nation. It encompasses all or part of 12 southern Ohio counties. Great Oaks currently has an enrollment of approximately 3,200 students, all high school juniors and seniors. There are 35 career pathways in the Great Oaks district.
