Loveland, Ohio – Cassie remains beyond excited that she was back for another year to be “live” on FaceBook to narrate the annual Loveland 4th of July Parade. For those of you that couldn’t make it to the celebration this year Cassie hopes that she can make you feel as though you had front-row seats at the parade and feel you were a part of all the patriotic action!
It was the largest 4th of July Parade to date! If you missed it, watch now!
Loveland, Ohio– Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer George Foster has been named Grand Marshal of the City of Loveland’s Independence Day Celebration parade!
He will lead the parade on Thursday, July 4 at 7 PM, cruising in a 1959 Corvette convertible. We’re rooting for a shiny red Vette designed for convoy escort duty!
George Arthur Foster was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on December 1, 1948 and played in Major League Baseball as an outfielder from 1969-1986, most notably with the Cincinnati Reds with whom he won two World Series championships as part of the “Big Red Machine.” He is a five-time All Star, and he earned the league’s Most Valuable Player Award in 1977. In 2003, Foster was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame.
“Foster was one of the most feared right-handed sluggers of his era, leading the National League in home runs in 1977 and 1978, and in RBIs in 1976, 1977, and 1978. He won the National League’s Most Valuable Player Award in 1977 and a Silver Slugger Award in 1981.” (Wikipedia)
On September 23, 1977 in the ninth inning of the Reds’ 5–1 victory over the Atlanta Braves, Foster hit his fiftieth home run of the season off Buzz Capra, making him the first player since Willie Mays in 1965 to hit fifty in a season.[20]

If your daughter’s reaching (or has reached) the age when you feel it’s time she had a phone, you know you’re entering into a challenge.
by Fran Hendrick, PCC
Getting a cell phone warrants a celebration, right? Of course! But like any rite of passage, there is both responsibility and risk attached to it. Having a phone in her possession raises a number of very real health and safety issues because cell phone use is implicated in anxiety, stress, depression, cyberbullying, addiction, and emotional dependency (that’s right, cell phones can erode confidence!) — for starters. Like driving later on, handing your daughter her first phone merits some planning.
Join me Friday for a Facebook Livestream on this this topic!
Got questions?
I’ve been looking at a different back-to-school concerns each week for the past three weeks. Please join me at www.facebook.com/franhendrick for a Facebook Live Stream on Fridays (8/3-8/24) at 11:00 AM Eastern Time.
Post your questions about that week’s back-to-school issue in the comment section of the live stream post — or private message me on Facebook. I love helping you work out these answers.
See you there!
I’ve got three things for you on this topic:
1. The Cell Phone Safe Use Resource Sheet
I’ve put this together to help you create an informed plan — and yes, I really do think it’s that important. The research is coming in and it’s disturbing. But along with the research, we’ve now got more strategies and guidelines to help having a phone be a constructive experience for kids.
In this Resource Sheet, I cover:
Links to information you need to educate yourself in order to plan for your daughter.
Links to information on Parental Controls — super important.
How your own fears can get in the way of taking steps to protect your daughter.
How to structure a conversation with your daughter on this delicate topic.
How to respond to her feelings about implementing some structure around cell phone use.
2. From the Blog Archives
This issue of emotional dependency cuts right to the heart of what so many moms want for their daughters — and that’s confidence. In the post below, I’ve explained how cell phones can erode confidence. It’s not a small thing.
I’ll be talking about this topic and other questions, as well, Friday August 24 at 11:00 AM Eastern Time in a Facebook Live. You can join this event on my Facebook Page. (By the way — previous topics are also there for you to view. Just click the Video tab and you’ll see them.)

Loveland Chamber and Loveland Magazine partner to bring you Meet the School Board Candidates Night
Loveland Middle School Media Center
801 South Lebanon Rd.
Wednesday October 25 at 7 PM
Doors Open at 6:30 PM
by David Miller, Publisher
I am pleased that Loveland Magazine can partner this year with the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance to bring the candidates for a seat on the Loveland School Board together in one room to face voters and their questions. This election is certainly one of the most consequential for District voters in decades. The Board that sits in January 2018 will choose a new superintendent, make decisions about school facilities and crowded classrooms, and possibly be asking voters for more money within the next eighteen months.
Voters will have the opportunity to meet the candidates at 6:30 PM and at 7 PM the candidates will begin presenting their case and asking for your vote.
The forum will be moderated by former Board President Dr. Judy McClanahan. McClanahan and her husband Stephen have lived in the Loveland District for 31 years. McClanahan has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky in Pharmacy and a PH.D. from the University of Kentucky in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She did her post-doctoral work at the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill. She was active in the PTA and established a Publishing Center for the students in the elementary building. In 1997, she was elected to the Loveland Board of Education and subsequently served 12 years on the Board. During this time Judy served as President of the Board three times.
LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV will be broadcasting the forum “live” on Loveland Magazine’s Facebook page, so, people that cannot be at the forum to meet the candidates in person, can watch it wherever they are. Folks can watch on their smartphones, tablets, computers, or even on the widescreen of their smart TV in their family room. Organize your own watch party.
The forum will be rebroadcast on both our Facebook Page and at www.lovelandmagazine.com so folks can watch at any time leading right up to election day.
Residents can comment in “real-time” on the Loveland Magazine Facebook page during the live broadcast or afterward by watching the re-broadcast.
At the Forum, residents will be putting their questions into a “hat,” and all questions will be screened for duplicates. McClanahan will ask as many questions as time allows.
CeeCee Collins, President of the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance said, “I feel it is important to allow the residents and voters to meet and ask questions prior to going to vote on November 7. Our intent is to provide the community the opportunity to ask questions and make an informed choice when voting.”

Will City Hall be demolished? One, two, or four-story? Who will be Loveland’s next Mayor? Who will be appointed to fill the remaining two-year term vacated by former mayor Mark Fitzgerald? Will pro-growth or slow growth protect our values and environment candidates be elected? Which candidates will be more transparent? Which candidates will have the best temperament when their actions are brought into question? Who will shorten your commute time? Who has the thickest skin and a pleasant disposition? Will new bosses be just like the old bosses?
What would you like to ask those who want a special seat of trust at City Hall for the next four-years?
