Loveland High School’s Winter Sports Teams Kick the Season off right with Multiple Victories-Part 1

Loveland, Ohio – Following quite a successful Fall sports season, Loveland High School Athletics has officially started their Winter sports season and the victories are already rolling in! At the conclusion of the Fall sports season, Loveland High School Athletics still held the top spot for the ECC All-Sports Trophy with a total of 62 points. With all of LHS’s Fall sports successes, it’s safe to say the entire Loveland sports community is more than excited to watch the Winter sports teams grab some wins! Men’s Basketball

This week the Men’s Basketball team kicked off their season at Aiken on Tuesday. Although the Tigers lost 58 to 53, they battled for the win until the very end! Ian Cox played quite the game racking up 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Many Tigers contributed to the season opener such as Alec Soth, who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, Brenton Foust, who scored 9 points and grabbed 3 rebounds, and Aaron Krabacher, who had 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

The Men’s Basketball Team collected a big win against Anderson at home on Friday! The entire Tiger team fought hard for their first ECC win, with a score of 46 to 34. Loveland’s Collin Hedgepeth had 11 points and 3 rebounds, Brenton Foust collected 16 points and 3 assists, and Aaron Krabacher added 8 points to the final score.

Loveland Men’s Basketball Team will be back in action on Tuesday at 7:30 PM at Kings and then again on Friday at Walnut Hills at 7:30 PM.

Women’s Basketball

The Loveland Tiger’s Women’s Basketball Team had quite a successful week grabbing 2 big ECC wins! On Wednesday the Tiger’s took on Kings at home winning 57 to 22, and on Saturday gained another win at home against Walnut Hills, 78 to 67. With the Tigers, two ECC wins this week that puts them at 3-0 in the ECC and 3-1 overall making the Tigers 2nd in the ECC. Several of the Tigers were recognized for their accomplishments this week! The Women’s Basketball Team put up some impressive stats at both the Kings and Walnut Hills games! Jenna Batsch had 16 points and 8 steals against Kings while Jillian Hayes added 13 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals and Tess Broermann had 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals. The Tiger’s didn’t stop their impressive stats there, they also put up some great numbers against Walnut Hills including Jillian Hayes putting up her 1,000th point! Hayes put up 27 points and 10 rebounds while her teammate Kate Garry put up 21 points, 5 of those baskets coming from the 3 point line, and her other teammate Tess Broermann put up 12 points and 5 steals. Loveland High School Basketball Programs Look to Change School History!

Loveland, Ohio – As many LHS Fall athletes wrap up their seasons and collect their accolades, the Winter athletes are preparing for what they hope to be a very successful 2019-2020 season!

So what do all us Tiger fans look forward to after the big Thanksgiving feast? The beginning of basketball season! LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV took a trip back down Tiger Trail to visit with the Men’s Basketball coach, Rob Reis, and the Women’s Basketball coach, Darnell Parker, to talk about just why they are excited about the season. With the Men’s and Women’s Tiger programs coming off successful seasons last year, both coaches agreed that this could be the year that both their teams and their players change school history. If that doesn’t make you excited to see some hard nose Tigers compete I don’t know what does!

Loveland, Ohio – As many of you in the community know Loveland High School has had quite the successful 2019 Fall sports season. The athletic ability of these Tiger student-athletes’ is what many families and friends follow daily. Unfortunately, sometimes the student part of student-athlete is not recognized as much because in the public eye it is not as entertaining as watching the individual’s athletic ability play out. [Loveland Magazine TV] Eleven Outstanding Loveland High School Student-Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent

Loveland, Ohio – Eleven Tigers made the community of Loveland proud on Wednesday each committing to playing athletics at the collegiate level. Loveland High School invited the community to attend its annual 2019 Fall Sports Signing Day ceremony where each athlete was able to sign their National Letter of Intent with their coaches, friends, and families present!

Loveland High School Athletic Director, Brian Conaster, in front of a packed LHS gym, first presented each athlete along with their accolades and then proceeded in asking that athlete to officially sign their letter of intent. L.H.S’s Mike Dunlap Provides Tiger Students and Athletes the Tools for a Bright Future

Loveland, Ohio – Loveland has always been known as a community filled with love, hence why Loveland is called the “Sweetheart of Ohio.” Each and every citizen in Loveland makes up an important piece of the community, but in saying that it’s up to the citizen as to what they do with their role as an important piece of that community. This is what makes up a community’s “D.N.A.”

Over the past year, Loveland Magazine has been in search of community members that truly play an important role in Loveland’s D.N.A. Thus far we have found some very special candidates for our feature column, “What’s In Loveland’s D.N.A.” After taking some time to really search for the next featured candidate we finally came across someone who not only lives in Loveland but has dedicated their career to impacting the youth of Loveland in the most positive way possible!

Mike Dunlap has been an active member of the Loveland Community since 5th grade, and yes he was a Loveland Tiger! Dunlap teaches Science at Loveland High School and is the head coach of Loveland High School’s Men’s Soccer Team. Dunlap has been involved with LHS and the Tiger students for over 20 years and his dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed!

Mike “Flipped” his Classroom

Growing up Dunlap admitted that he struggled with ADHD and so learning something in the classroom and then trying to go home and apply what he learned in his homework was a huge struggle! When Dunlap got the teaching position at Loveland High School he knew that there would be students that struggled with ADHD just like him. This is when Dunlap introduced “Flipping the Classroom” to his students. With this teaching model students are able to watch pre-recorded lectures as their “homework assignment” and then do the traditional homework in class with the teacher and fellow students. When Dunlap introduced this idea to his students their grade point averages shot up almost immediately! Dunlap’s influence in the classroom and on the soccer field is why he is known for shaping so many student-athletes into successful individuals!

Loveland High School’s 2019 Fall Athletes’ and Coaches Receive Multiple ECC Awards

Loveland, Ohio – It’s no secret to the Loveland community that Loveland High School is home to some of Ohio’s top athletes! The Loveland Tigers had quite the 2019 Fall sports season in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference collecting 5 conference titles, 4 Coach of the Year titles, 2 Athlete of the Year titles and several All-Conference First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention accolades.

With all of the victories and accolades, Loveland High School Athletics has put on the board for the 2019 Season thus far puts the Tigers at the number 1 spot with 62 points for the ECC All-Sports Trophy, which is one of the highest honors the ECC bestows. With the 2019 Fall sports season coming to an end there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that winning the ECC All-Sports Trophy may, in fact, be in Loveland High School’s near future!

The Eastern Cincinnati Conference released the teams, athletes, and coaches that were awarded All ECC honors on their website for the 2019 Fall sports season. Below Loveland Magazine collected the results for each Loveland High School Fall sports team that received ECC honors. At this time Football ECC awards have not been posted.

Loveland Tigers place 6th in Women’s State Division I Cross Country Championships

Hebron, Ohio – The Loveland Women’s Cross Country Team made school history Saturday as they competed for the first time in years as a team for the Women’s State Division 1 Cross Country Championship. The race included 183 runners and took place at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at National Trail Raceway 5K Course. The Lady Loveland Tigers earned 212 points placing 6th out 20 of teams. Finishtiming.com provided the unofficial race results, which are listed below. OHSAA has yet to post the official final race results.

Stephanie Savely on School Levy: What do we agree on?

The levy is driving a wedge in our beautiful town. Can we “push pause” for just a minute? Can we take a deep breath and focus on what we agree on?

I believe, if asked, most of us would say that:
- We love our “little” town.
- We know the value and importance of providing a good public education.
- We know that our school buildings need work and some probably even need to be replaced.
Most would even agree that there are probably some items, regardless of the actual dollar amount, in the levy that aren’t “mission critical.”

So, I have one simple question. What harm is there in asking the school board to take the overwhelming amount of feedback they have received and revise the plan?

This isn’t an all or nothing situation. Our city is more important than that.

This problem has been years in the making, and a few more months won’t matter.

Our community, our schools, our neighborhoods, our friendships are worth coming together and tackling this well. Together.

Don’t forget, we ARE Loveland Strong.

Loveland Cross Country Teams Run Like Tigers In the Last Two Competitive Meets

Loveland, Ohio – Loveland High School is not a stranger to having successful student-athletes, but this year two Tiger teams have been taking the cross country world by storm! Loveland’s Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country Teams proved all their summer workouts paid off in both The Loveland Invitational and Mason Invite finishing both meets in the top 2 with several individual PRs.

The Loveland Invitational, which took place on the morning of August 31st at the Home of the Brave Park, turned out to be another beautiful meet with many great performances by the Tigers! The Boy’s Cross Country Team finished 2nd out of 19 teams with a total of 71 points. Sophomore Ryan Chevalier was the top Tiger finisher, crossing the finish line in 3rd place with a time of 16:28. Senior Kyle Griffin took the 11th place spot finishing with a time of 17:09, Sophomore Sam Neiger finished 12th with a time of 17:13, Senior Alex Ditchen finished 23rd with a 17:34, Junior Ajay Stutz finished in 24th with a time of 17:37, Junior Colin Beran finished with a 17:52 in 31st place and Senior Sam Dippold rounded off the top 7 Tiger finishers with a 17:57 in 38th place.

The Girls Cross Country Team ran an impressive race at The Loveland Invitational as well finishing in 1st place out of 12 teams with a score of 36 points! Sophomore Emmy Sager finished first for the Tigers running an 18:49 earning her a 3rd place finish. Finishing close behind in 5th place was Sophomore Sarah Madix with a time of 19:37, Junior Ansley Richards in 6th place with a time of 19:44, Junior Ellie Carr in 10th place with a time of 20:02, Senior Nami Cannon in 13th place with a time of 20:26, Sophomore Audrey O’Keefe in 16th place with a time of 20:36 and Freshman Ally Colegate 22nd place with a time of 20:47. Out of the Tigers top 7 finishers, 6 were in the top 15 overall! Below is a video of the start of the Loveland Invitational that was captured by a Tiger fan!

After the Loveland Invitational, the Tigers Girls and Boys Cross Country Team got some state-wide recognition in the Ohio Division 1 State Cross Country Poll!

On September 7th, the Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams competed again this time at the Mason Invite. Both teams did not disappoint finishing again at the top! The Girls finished in 2nd place out of 32 teams with a total

of 120 points. Although there were 355 girls in the race that did not stop the Tigers from claiming top finishes and some PRs. Sophomore Emmy Sager finished first for the Tigers crossing the finish line in 14th place with a time of 19:10. The next Tiger finisher was Sophomore Sarah Madix who took the 20th spot with a time of 19:24, followed by Junior Ansley Richards in 23rd with a time of 19:40, Junior Ellie Carr in 28th with a time of 19:59, Senior Nami Cannon in 35th with a time of 20:12, Freshman Ally Colegate with a time of 20:37 in 48th place and Sophomore Bella Dillhoff in 73rd place with a time of 20:59. Cannon, Carr, and Madix all ran personal best times and Richards ran a season personal best time!

The Boys Cross Country also made a name for themselves at the Mason Invite finishing 6th out of 33 teams. Out of 409 runners Sophomore Ryan Chevalier finished in 18th with a time of 16:39, followed by Senior Kyle Griffin in 35th with a time of 17:03, Junior Ajay Stutz in 53rd with a 17:19, Freshman Brady Steiner in 65th with a time of 17:33, Senior Alex Ditchen in 67th place with a time of 17:34, Sophomore Sam Neiger in 87th with a 17:48 and Senior Sam Dippold in 127th with a time of 18:09. All You Need To Know About The 2019 LHS Homecoming Festivities

The parade will begin at 6:30 PM at the Moose Lodge Hall on East Loveland Avenue

Loveland, Ohio – The anticipation has begun for Loveland High School’s Homecoming activities and Loveland Magazine has the 411 on what to expect this year!

The 2019 Tiger Homecoming events will begin Thursday, September 26th with one of Loveland’s most coveted traditions, the Loveland Athletic Booster’s Homecoming Parade. The parade will begin promptly at 6:30 PM at the Moose Lodge Hall on East Loveland Avenue. The parade will then proceed to West Loveland Avenue, to Rich Road, and then end the night at #1 Tiger Way at Loveland High School.

RP Diamond will be selling Tiger Spirit Wear at Loveland Magazine during the Parade. Loveland Magazine is located right on the parade route in the heart of the West Loveland Historic District at 514 West Loveland Avenue and is one of the most favorite spots to view the parade because of ample parking in the District.

Immediately after the parade, the Loveland students will take part in the annual Powder Puff Football game at Tiger Stadium.

Grand Marshall is Tony Ricci

Every year Loveland High School selects a Grand Marshall to lead the annual Homecoming parade. As always, the individuals selected to be the Grand Marshall has been someone who truly takes an interest in the success of the Loveland High School students and is a positive force in the Loveland community. This year Tony Ricci was selected to lead the 2019 parade. For the last 25 years, Ricci has owned and operated Tony’s of Cincinnati, an American Seafood and Steakhouse located at 12110 Montgomery Road. Ricci’s incredible hospitality and back to his roots cuisine has allowed him to become a Cincinnati Food Icon. Although Tony’s of Cincinnati has been a huge part of Ricci’s life over the past several years, he has always found the time to take an interest in Loveland High School and its students.

Brian Conatser, Loveland High School’s Athletic Director, couldn’t express enough how generous Ricci and his family have been to Loveland over the past several years.

They have provided things such as senior dinners for each sport season for every senior athlete that plays a sport, a team dinner for any varsity team that wins a Team ECC championship, meals for any team that makes a deep dive in playoffs, pregame meals, donations for kids that need financial support for athletic gear or pay-to-play fees, donations to the Loveland Athletic Boosters every year at all major fundraisers, employment opportunities for students, sponsorship for Showchoir, Robotics, and Athletics, and support for Loveland co-curricular and extra-curricular sports and activities,” Conatser said. “Our student experience has been enhanced by the touch of the Ricci Family. Thank you very much, Tony Ricci, for your ongoing commitment to our programs and the Loveland Community,” Conatser added.

Conatser was not the only person to express his gratitude for Tony Ricci and his family’s support. President of the School Board, Art Jarvis, owner of Jarvis Global Investments located near Loveland’s Downtown Historic District, also had a lot to say about Ricci and his family. When Loveland Magazine asked Jarvis what he thought about Ricci being the Grand Marshall he said, “I think it’s an excellent choice! He has done so much for the community in the last 8 or 9 years. He’s been there every step of the way with Loveland students and athletes! He’s been amazing with supplying our athletes with meals. All seniors get a dinner no matter what sport and if a sports team wins the ECC they get another dinner from Tony! I can’t even tell you how much Tony has spent on food for Loveland’s students. He’s also a huge donor for the Loveland High School Show Choir. Anything that we have gone to him for about the students in Loveland he has donated, no questions asked!”

Jarvis also noted that Ricci spends a lot of his time in the community and added that “Tony is a dear friend of mine and is always willing to listen – no matter the topic. Tony’s steaks are the best steaks I’ve ever had! This guy knows how to make a steak and I love eating at his restaurant. Tony is just a great guy with a great family.”

Jeff Williams, President of the Loveland Athletic Boosters was also eager to praise Tony Ricci. He said, “I just think that as a community we’re lucky and blessed to have someone like him. It’s not only the money he gives, but he gives a great deal of his time. I think he makes Loveland what it is today.”

The Homecoming festivities will continue on Friday, September 27th with a Homecoming Pep Rally at 1:30 PM at Loveland High School and the Homecoming Football Game at the Tigers Stadium at 7 PM where they will face the Milford Eagles.

At halftime, the Homecoming Queen and King will be announced and the Marching Band and Color Guard will perform throughout the evening.

The homecoming game will have lots of spirited Loveland High School Students as well as friends and family members so be sure to stop by and support TIGER NATION! Who knows if you stop by you may just catch some Rozzi Fireworks and Grand Marshall Toni Ricci’s helicopter arrival to deliver the game ball!

On Saturday, September 28th Loveland High School will host the 2019 Homecoming Dance beginning at 8 PM and ending at 11 PM.
