Amazing Charity Race this Saturday
Loveland Magazine has been proud to partner with other sponsors to help make the Races a successThe Amazing Charity Race is this Saturday in Miami Township and Milford, however, will not enter the Loveland City limit.
This year, they will be starting the race at 8 AM at PAXTON RAMSEY PARK and finishing at VALLEY VIEW FOUNDATION FARM in Milford.
ROAD CLOSURES:
The Race Map is not made public until Friday night.
Here are the lane closures during the race starting at 7:45 AM until the race ends on these roads:
1) Southbound lane of Price Road from Paxton Ramsey Park to Ibold Road;
2) Westbound lane of Ibold Road from Price Road to Camp Friedlander entrance; and
3) Southbound lane of Price Road between Cub World entrance and Milford city line (just north of Miami Woods Dr in Milford).
(Note that both lanes between the Ibold and Price intersection to Cub World are open.)
This is a rain or shine event.
It’s so terribly hard to describe – that’s why we say, “Loveland Magazine is proud to present this LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV video highlight reel of the 2016 Race.
You just have to SEE it to UNDERSTAND it.
The Amazing Charity Race started in 2005 as Loveland’s Amazing Race and has grown into one of the biggest races in the whole Cincinnati tristate area! With a a little bit of this and a little bit of that – we make you walk, run, ride, think and do – all for the fun of it!
All of your entry fees go straight to all of our charities after we pay off our expenses for the race.
WHAT IS IT??: It is a full day of good natured competition, music and food and laughs. The race committee is laughing itself silly coming up with fun challenges. It is not a triathlon or a 5K race. It is not limited to runners or highly athletic individuals. It is a race in that it has a start and finish line but along the way it challenges the contestants in many ways. It is a fun, quirky, adventure that challenges the contestants agility, balance, coordination, strength, intelligence, problem solving skills, fine motor skills, and most important their sense of humor. You are invited whether it is to compete or join our team of over 500 volunteers so come enjoy, have a great time for a good cause and as always expect the unexpected.
This year’s race will feature more fun, less stress and an all new course!

In this LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV video you can see the photos taken by David Miller of the ceremony, and shortly after a music interlude you can listen to the Memorial Day address by Bill Fee and continue looking through the photo slideshow.

Bill Fee Loveland, Ohio – This year’s keynote speaker at the Loveland Memorial Day ceremony was Bill Fee.
After a year in college, at the age of 19, Fee enlisted in the Army in 1967, and volunteered for service in Vietnam. He served in combat as a rifleman in the First Infantry Division and was wounded in combat in November of 1967, and spent 10 months in three different Army hospitals, undergoing four operations to repair a damaged shoulder. After his medical discharge in 1968, he returned to college and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BA and MA in German Literature.
In 1984, Fee and fellow Vietnam Veteran Earl Corell co-directed the fundraising, design and dedication of the Greater Cincinnati Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Eden Park. The Memorial was dedicated in April of 1984.
Fee was with the E.W. Scripps Co. for 32 years, retiring in 2010 after having served as Vice President and General Manager of WCPO-TV for 12 years. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, and graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 1965.
Fee has served on the boards of the Boy Scouts, the Ohio Association of Broadcasters, and he is Past President of the boards of Cincinnati Public Radio and the Cincinnati and Ohio Chapters of the March of Dimes. He currently serves on the board of trustees of The Children’s Home of Cincinnati, and is a volunteer with Executive Service Corps of Cincinnati and United Way.
In 2016, Fee published his first book, Memoir of Vietnam 1967, detailing the story about his military service in Vietnam with the First Infantry Division, and the impact the war has had on his life in later years.

[Video] Interviews with finalists for superintendent search
Loveland, Ohio – These LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV videos are interviews with the three finalists for the position of Loveland Superintendent of Schools. These interviews were conducted after each candidate met with the public, each for a separate two-hour Q&A at Loveland High School.
Karen Naber, (Assistant Superintendent Sycamore Schools)
Dr. Chad Konkle (Assistant Superintendent Hamilton City Schools)
Dr. Amy Crouse (Interim Loveland Superintendent)
The Board of Education plans to take official action to employ a new superintendent in March, with that person’s official duties to begin August 1, 2018. The vacancy is the result of the resignation of Chad Hilliker that was effective on July 31, 2017. At that time, Dr. Amy Crouse took over as interim superintendent for the district, and she continues to lead in that capacity.
The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) is assisting the Board with the search.

Uncertain about voting: Read all of our election stories

by David Miller, Editor
On December 15, 2016, a Loveland City Hall newsletter was sent to residents announcing, “Downtown Development on the Horizon.”
The announcement continued, “Thus in 2017, the plan is for the current City Hall to be demolished. The planned replacement (elevation renderings shown above) is a four story building.“
The story sounded a little fishy to Loveland Magazine as we keep a pretty close eye on City Hall and we had never heard of the proposal, let alone how it could be a done deal. Also to be sure we did not miss something we
researched past meeting minutes and found no council vote… no discussion… nothing. Someone at City Hall had written a story that wasn’t true, yet that didn’t stop the Loveland Herald from running with the story. Why wouldn’t they, they would not know better as they had stopped attending Loveland Council meetings years ago. Never-the-less, the Herald was able to gather enough quotes to write about the imminent demolition of Loveland’s City Hall.Loveland Magazine never reported the story because we knew it was not true.
The newsletter and the Herald story fit the textbook definition of “fake news”, except it wasn’t going to end up being “fake” if City Hall could get away with the backroom scheming it took to hatch the plan. Many residents had different ideas.
The other things residents became aware of was the sudden announcement to impose very high fees and severe restrictions for community groups holding public events. Many residents had different ideas.
Add to that, the announcement that Donna Bednar would not be re-appointed to the Loveland Beautification Committee, and the subsequent resignation of all but one member.
Add to all of this upheaval was when behind City Hall’s closed doors a decision was made to “Trademark” the name Christmas in Loveland and the surprise announcement that City Hall had usurped the event that belonged to the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance.
It’s where the hashtag, “#lovelandtransparency” comes from.
This is where the stories below start and will give readers a final chance to catch up on our City Hall reporting (including the successful re-call effort of the sitting mayor) before they go to vote next Tuesday. These are resident views, candidate views, and some of the legal challenges both residents and council members faced this past year.
